Solo Holiday Plans

For many years now I've been going on holidays with Paul. We haven't done much in the way of travelling recently thanks to that pesky plague that pretty much shut down the world for a while, but it used to be a regular thing for us. Unfortunately for our travels he has now decided to settle down and procreate, which puts a bit of a spanner in the works. He has said he doesn't want to stop our holidays completely, which makes me very happy cos I do love our trips, but it'll be a while before he'll be in the position to be able to go anywhere. And I don't want to just sit around and wait for him to be ready again.

So, with that in mind, I have booked a holiday. By myself. Kinda.

It's with a company that does group trips for solo travellers, so I will be with other people but I won't know any of them. A few years ago I'd never have dreamed of doing something like this cos I'd have been too scared to talk to anyone else in the group and it wouldn't have been fun, but I think I'm a lot better now. At least I hope I am.

I'm still terrified, of course. And a big part of my brain is screaming at me wondering what the hell I was thinking. But I keep reminding myself that it's better to step out of my comfort zone and potentially have a great experience than it is to stay at home where it's safe but I miss out on things.

I suppose I'm mostly worried that I'll step out of my comfort zone and it won't be a great experience. I've struggled with my anxiety for so long and I know that doing the thing that scares you doesn't always work out for the best. I just have to hope that it will this time.
