Author Notes: I wrote this for John's birthday... I know it's a couple days late but I wanted to post it. And just so you know this is my first Beatles slash I've ever written. And I was literally crying my eyes out while writing this, this was a very emotional piece for me. I hope you'll enjoy reading it.

Paul slowly gets up from his bed and looks at the clock
"9:45," he whispers to himself.
He heads to his kitchen and turns the TV on.
He looked at the calendar in his kitchen.
"October 9th, eh?" he said as he started making himself some coffee.
"October 9th?" he repeated to himself, "hey, today's.."
"Today is John Lennon's birthday," the news reporter says.
Paul smiles to himself and whispers to his coffee, "Happy Birthday John."
The phone suddenly rings. Paul walks over to it and turns off his TV.
"Hello?" Paul says to the phone.
"Hey Paul!" a merry voice exclaims through the phone.
"Ringo! How are you doing my friend?" Paul answers with a laugh.
"I'm doing great. Hey, ya know what today is doncha?"
"Of course, it's John's birthday Ritchie."
"Yup, and I thought me and you could celebrate! Whaddya say Paul?"
Paul laughed and said, "That would be fun. I've got no plans today anyways."
"Great! I'll come over with the wine!" Ringo laughed and hung up before Paul could answer.
Paul chuckled to himself and put the phone down.
While getting dressed he couldn't keep his eyes off a picture of him and John.
It was from when they were still very young. Paul was sitting down and John hand his arms over Paul's shoulders.
Paul picked up the photo and examined it further.
He couldn't take his eyes off of John's hands.
Paul touched the photo lightly as though he thought the slightest touch would shatter it and whispered, "John had beautiful hands..."
Paul sat down on his bed with the photo in his hands.
His mind was filled with all the memories of the good times he had with John.
He couldn't help the tears from pouring from his eyes, "I wish you were still here John.."
He let the tears roll down his face as he whispered, "I miss you so much.."
"Paul.." someone whispered.
Paul knew that voice anywhere, "J-John?"
Paul looked up to see John standing inches away.
"John?" Paul repeated, the tears still pouring from his eyes.
John gave Paul a small smile and sat down next to Paul.
"But, but I don't understand," Paul stuttered while looking at John with wide eyes.
"Shhh. Paul, it's only me," John smiled while wiping away the tears staining Paul's face.
Paul looked into John's eyes and knew it was his John.
"God Paul, why are you always crying like a little girl?"
Paul was taken aback as he said, "John, I..."
"I love you," John interrupted.
Paul smiled and felt more tears rising in his eyes.
"I love you," John said again and placed his hand on Paul's face.
Paul nodded slowly and nuzzled his face into John's hand.
"I miss you so much John. I miss you so much," Paul whispered, trying to hold back a new set of tears.
John smiled and placed his lips on Paul's forehead.
Paul looked up into John's eyes again, "I need you John. I miss you so much."
John kissed the top of Paul's head and said, "I love you Paul. I always will."
With that John stood up.
"John, I need you," Paul said standing up too, tears flooding his eyes.
John smiled softly, "I love you, don't you ever forget."
Paul sniffed and watched as John took a step away from him.
"I love you," John whispered, barely audible. With that he slowly started to fade away.
"John!" Paul yelled and tried to grab at where John was standing just seconds ago.
Paul sighed and whispered, "I love you too."
The door bell rang and Paul placed the photo of him and John back where he found it. He cleaned his face up and went to answer the door.
"Hey Paul!" Ringo sang as he lifted the bottle of wine in front of Paul.
"Hey Ringo," Paul answered and let his friend into his house.
The two sat and talked about the old days. When they used to be part of their everyday lives. When John and George were still here.
"Let's make a toast," Ringo said, pouring some wine into each of their glasses.
Paul smiled and picked up his glass, "To John!"
"And George!" Ringo added, lifting his glass up into the air.
"To the Beatles!" Paul laughed.
"Happy birthday John!" Ringo said and chugged his whole glass of wine.
Paul smiled, closed his eyes, and whispered, "Happy birthday John."
And Paul could've sworn he heard a voice reply, "Thanks Paul."
