Just when I thought that previous failed attempts at reunions were signs that the people who made up my high school class, 4B, were off on their merry ways, I got a nice surprise when I found out that some of my former classmates took the initiative to organize a class reunion. (And I felt guilty because I always talked about wanting to meet up with 4B again but never did anything about that desire beyond making feeble suggestions.)
The people who attended were Richie, Charm, Sasy, Lotte, Rachelle, Nicole, Ge, Nico, Ella, Nickee, Aaron, Tengki, Mai, Lemmy and Mushu and me - less than half of the class. Other people, despite wanting to attend, were unable to do so because of various reasons - some were away on vacation, some had classes to attend to or other things to do, while others had no means of transportation - which were mostly understandable. After all, it would be impossible to expect a perfect attendance. Regardless of the fact that only a few were able to make it to the reunion, I'd say that the reunion was a success in the sense that it brought people who hadn't seen or heard from each other in a while together. It was enjoyable catching up on old times and hearing updates ("Wow, you're blooming!" "Did you know that our batchmate got a QPI of 4.0 for the second time in a row?" "I've moved to a new residence.") from one another. We even bumped into Ms. Ong, our guidance counselor and my friend, which was a major coincidence!
Anyway, we spent the time strolling around MoA, mostly flitting in and out of boutiques. The boys, except for Richmond, mostly felt out of place as the girls fawned over pretty clothes. The strange thing is, I'm female but I, too, felt out of place in the boutiques my friends went to. Perhaps it's because I prefer shopping for my clothes in Divisoria (okay, you might laugh at me) and because most of the clothes in boutiques, despite looking pretty, are not my size. Besides, I prefer bookstores and anime specialty shops. :D
We also watched Pathology, starring Milo Ventimiglia. I don't know about the others, but I didn't like the movie. The premise was a bit interesting but the movie failed to execute the premise well; instead, I found the film to be predictable and filled with gratuitous sex scenes. After the film, despite some of us still reeling from seeing gory shots of internal organs and cadavers being cut up, we had a delicious - but costly - dinner at Tokyo Cafe. I loved the ambience, the food, and the plastic displays of food, but I did not love the expensive prices, haha.
All in all, I had a really good time hanging out with my former classmates. I never expected that I'd miss HS 4B, because there were some people in the class that I... er... didn't exactly warm up to, but I guess the concept of 4B as a whole and the memories of 4B make me sentimental. I'll be honest in saying that there are still people in the class that I am not close with and/or that I do not really, um, like, but as a whole, 4B was, and is, a class that was fun to be with. I met lots of nice people and made great friends in 4B, so thanks to whoever organized this reunion. :) I'll miss you guys! I hope we hang out together again next time. It would also be nice to have more 4B people around, like Justin, Audrey Go, Audrey Chong, Therese, Dianne, Kimbies and Clare.
