Freecut week?

Jul 13, 2007 13:38

By now, it is safe to say that this week has been full of freecuts here and there. Not a day has gone by without at least one freecut.

No English and Lit again today, as Sir Exie is still down with the flu. In a few minutes, I'm going home. Seriously, as much as I am happy that I have been having a lot of free time on my hands, it's such a shame that we haven't had a single class of English and Lit all week. I was looking forward to the workshop of sketches, as well as the discussion of "Gryphon". Now it's no longer required reading, which is a pity. I would have liked to hear everyone's insights about Ms. Ferenczi, the Luna Lovegood-esque teacher. I love listening to the interesting and insightful things that my English classmates have to say.

I do hope that Sir will get better on Monday. I'm kind of concerned, you know. And no, I'm not sucking up to him. I don't know why, but I do have respect for most teachers. Not all of them, though. And as intimidating as some teachers may be, I think that they might make interesting friends or acquaintances.

What is it with the flu virus, or the cold bug? Even Fermin-sensei from JSP seems to be down with a cold. A while ago, I could sense that something was wrong when she greeted us "Ohayo gozaimasu" in a less enthused manner. She just gave us a quiz on vocabulary words, and said that we were free to go when we were done, since her voice was hoarse. So we've got a lecture and a katakana quiz on Monday. I'm also hoping that she will recover by Monday.

InTACT class was okay. We had a little activity, and we are to write a reflection paper about it. Will probably do it later, since I have this compulsive urge to get things done right away.

Everyone talks about how boring and difficult Filipino is. Generally, most people think it's a pain. I've been studying Filipino ever since I was in first grade and, for the most part, I'm neutral about it - I don't loathe it, but I don't love it either. In fact, my perception of Filipino was almost sullied by one of my teachers, whom I immensely disliked - I am glad that my professor in Filipino right now, Sir Egay, is nothing like her. At least for now. I don't know if he will turn out to be like her, but I doubt he will. Will anyone think of me as a weirdo if I say that I think that Filipino is kind of interesting? Our discussions are a bit mind-boggling sometimes, because the explanations seem to be approaching philosophical territory, but currently I don't have that much problems with it. The readings are long, and I don't always understand all of the poems, but there were some that I *gasp* actually enjoyed reading. And this is the weirdest thing - some of those poems actually gave me some inspiration for fanfics! Really! I even had this daydream of writing my very first serious Filipino fanfic. I wrote a "Battle Royale" yaoi fic in Filipino once, but that was crack. :D It was mainly meant for Pupu's enjoyment. Maybe one day I'll take the risk and write a fanfic in Filipino.

As I was walking to Matteo Ricci after class, I listened to Willy and Sir Egay discussing something he had recently discussed. I couldn't help but be drawn to listen, in order to understand things better. Besides, I didn't have any class to rush to anyway - free cut, remember? :) And then Sir Egay said that so far, he was pleased with my performance in class. Really? I was surprised that he knew me. I don't exactly stand out in class. I've only recited twice. He told me that I was doing well in the quizzes, and I wanted to squee with delight. I want to do well in all of my subjects. It might be impossible, but I'll still try. :)

Also, much love to Willy! Thanks to him, I can now watch "Death Note". I have to say, Willy and Ezra are two blockmates that I feel closest to. Whether they feel the same way or not, I do not know, and I doubt that they will ever stumble upon this entry, but I just want to say that I'm glad I have them around. I can relate to them more than anyone else in the block.

My sundo is coming over in a few minutes, so I don't have enough time to post an entry about the fifth HP movie. When I get home, expect a post about it. :)
