The week prior to Spring Break has got to one of the craziest in our little Academy lives. Tons of work due before the quarter ends, then it's Billet Night for the firsties on Thursday night, and then on Friday we all take off. I'm going to Cordova, AK on the USCGC SYCAMORE. It's a buoy tender, and I'm excited. Everyone was bouncing off the walls after recieving our assignments and wanting to drink. Me, I wanted to go back to Chase, call my parents, and get some sleep my body was badly needing. Funny what we do to celebrate. After all the excitement I felt so drained. A lot of happiness, a little anger and sadness, but a big sigh of relief now that we all know where we're going. But now the fun really starts...
Spring Break was amazing. I love driving away from this place and how we flip a switch in our heads and we stop thinking about it. Backpacking in Shenandoah with James was such an amazing experience I'll never capture in words. There's something about watching sunsets, and seeing the sunrise through a tent flap... and then it continued, to waking up to a snowstorm in a small West Virginian town, laughing over XC skis, enjoying that silence of the woods.
Ugh. I hate school.
