Photo Diary: Saigon, Ho Chi Minh

Aug 10, 2010 00:02

(my photos, using dad's Canon D40)

1. Saigon skyline from the bridge.
2. Busy Saigon streets with ridiculously beautiful French-inspired architectures.
3. French sculpture on windows/building
4. Vases for sale on streets.
5. Some French classic car in Indochine (a restaurant)
6. Outdoor table and chairs at Indochine.
7. At the entrance to the Cu Chi tunnels.

Missed taking pictures of the busy markets. The Ben Thanh is a great place to go to when shopping for souvenirs and home decos. The Saigon Square is something I'd consider my playground along with the Lucky Plaza I'd missed going to. Sadly, the 40 USD my mom gave me wasn't enough for some dresses I liked and ended up not getting any. Both Ben Thanh and Saigon Square are nearest the New World Hotel we were staying at.

I also missed to take photos of the park. It's too late for regrets but I should've taken the D40 with me when I'd looked around for things to grab with Mrs. Decolongan one Friday afternoon.

Things at the war museum were crazy morbid. They're cool but morbid. (I'm too much of a peace lover.) The Cu Chi tunnels were interesting but claustrophobia got the best of me. I simply cannot take a spin on the tunnels however interestingly cool they were. The walking shoes I'd recently thrifted last week for 100 Php (2 USD) were uncomfortable to wear around without socks or stockings. At least I'd brought along a few pairs of ankle stockings with me.

Still, I'm happy to finally be home. I'd had a crazy 3-days off at Saigon, Ho Chi Minh and I'm looking forward to more trips out in the future. I ended up sleeping majority of the day away, though. I simply was that tired.
