A month ago I moved to Maryland. I went from teaching kids and working in an office to hiking 5+ miles a day and looking for turtle tracks. It's a strange adjustment, mostly concerning the social aspect. Most of the people that I work with are over 45 and are married construction workers. I also live on a small waterman island, so we have a gas station that is the local hang out and no sight of a place to interact with anyone with my interests. The solitude is nice but coming from the bustling camp that I worked at with constant entertainment, it's definitely a change of pace. Luckily, I have some wonderful adventures in the next month and a few plane flights to make.

Of course, the scenery is nice and I'm adjusting to the Eastern Shore. My favorite part so far is the daily commute which involves a 2-block walk and then a 20-minute boat ride to the island I work on. Also, I'm slowly adventuring out to D.C. and Baltimore, they are about a hour away. Sometimes I feel like this was a big mistake, leaving the full-time job and beautiful island but hopefully, the prospect of going to graduate school next year for free will out weigh the negatives. Now, I need to find a school to apply to and also a job come November.
