One year ago today David and I drove out to the Fulton/Fondaville exit off the Thruway to meet Trish from Bare Bones Rescue who was bringing our new dog to us. I still remember standing around at the truck stop waiting for a glimpse of our new wonderful dog when I saw this woman walk by in the distance with this gorgeous black furry dog with a huge flag of a tail. It took me a few moments to realize that it was OUR gorgeous black dog she had with her!
She looked a little lost and confused that first night, but then crawled into bed between us and slept there the whole night. In the morning, she rolled over onto her back and we rubbed her belly while she gave us a huge open-mouthed grin. I think she knew she had come home.

Wandering around the cottage, a bit confused:
Today to celebrate we took Dahlia to the dog park. She had such a blast! Here are some of my favourite pictures of Dahlia from the park. Later I'll post some of the other photos from the day.
(sometimes I think her tail is big enough to be a whole other dog)
(Dahlia with "skinny Dahlia" -- Shadow looked a lot like Dahlia, only taller and thinner)
(Funny face -- there was a near miss with the woman who had the ball thrower)
And this is what happens after you get home from the dog park:
