Scanning warerstones for the latest (drivel) (note to self, edit later and replace with a more succinct word).

I found this title jumping out from the rest.

Attempting to answer a question that has been a topic of conversation for a while now.

I'm the next customer in line and am able to read the first page or so and then put it down, pay for my purchase and leave.

Roman polanski is where this author chooses to begin along with the rape of a child and then continues to describe his movies which were appreciated for their environment value.

It's an interesting place to start as it tackles the taboo immediately.

In short, my argument has been that if we destroyed all art created by evil people we'd have nearly no art left.

I mean take the average audience.

The choice to become famous and rich... And what's required...

I can't remember if it was pulp or the gorilla's or some other creative but umm recently they produced a track saying "the cost of fame never dropped".

I mean surely it must be possible to be successful without selling your soul to the devil and being some drug selling pimp with gang connections and murders to cover up.

But umm, that's just not as interesting, not as scary, not so exciting.

I mean, I come from a zeitgeist of incredibly literate people who wanted to challenge society by being pacifists, environmentally conscious and prioritising the welfare of animals as well as people (children, adults, elderly).

It's a tough crowd and your audience is not always going to be in agreement.

So many oars will be placed and without the coxswain people go no where for having little direction.

We focus too much on one aspect... Let's take weight for that's a great leveller.

We can't expect the anorexic and the morbidly obese to follow the same orders.

We can't expect the vegan to live off the same nutrients as a child.

Suddenly everything is tailored and individual.

People get into synchronisation, jumping from boat to raft to pier depending on their personal requirements.

What a person does yesterday does not necessarily have impact on what they do tomorrow.

Of course there's consequences and causation.

But... Some things remain true, some things are predictable but... There's a lot of randomness and people carry an ability to navigate themselves.

I have this bundle I carry with me. It's filled with all my favourites and loves. I don't talk about it too much, experience always taught me that that was an error.

I have this bundle of hates and irritations and I dump it, forget it and only mention it if I absolutely have to.

One thing I love about life is that we're given roles and scripts.

There are few people besides one who can say "it's not about me, it's about the community".

And that's kind of the mixed bag I'm discussing.

I leave communities when they fail to meet expectations. And this is why I've left a lot of groups. Returning... Sometimes... Are my expectations reasonable?

Where do we draw the line?

And when do we cross the line?

What is acceptable? Reasonable?

I mean... How much time do you want to spend in the world of coke sniffing childless narcissists and sadists?

I mean, that's a niche bubble, right?

Not many people are gonna wanna row oars in that boat for very long, hey?
