I haven't written for awhile so I thought I should. Let's see what's been going on? Quite a bit.
We renegotiated out lease and even though we have to pay more, we have decided to stay here for at least another year. If they raise it by the same amount next year then we're going to move. This place was a good deal at what we were paying before, and now it's average. If it raises again, it will suck. Mostly because nothing is covered, not even water or sewage, so we're paying rent with no utilities covered, so it should be cheaper than other places in the area.
That problem I had with my car's gear shift sticking finally ended up being an official Dodge Avenger recall, so they sent me a refund check for the amount I paid to have it fixed and I got to bring it in for free so they could re-enforce the part that keeps breaking in all the cars. It was nice to get a check for $300 you weren't expecting.
We put $200 of it towards a credit card balance, and the other $100 we used to go to a restaurant in Burlington called The Melting Pot. It's a restaurant that does only fondue. It was SO GOOD. Very expensive, so it's not something we can do often, but it was so nice. The restaurant is beautiful, we got a private dark little corner booth.
We started with the cheddar cheese fondue, and you get a little stove right on your table with a pot on it. The waiter made the cheese mixture right there and they give you raw veggies, bread chunks and apple slices to dunk in the cheese. (Apple slices-weird, right? I thought so too but it was very yummy!)
Then after the cheese, you get the entree. You choose one cooking style. They have things like vegetable broth, red wine sauces, garlic sauces. It stays heated on your little stove and you can dip in your raw meat and cook it. It's served in tiny chunks so it takes about 2 minutes for each piece of meat to cook all the way through and then you can eat it. They also have a vegetarian option, and with our meat we also got mushrooms, potatoes and broccoli to cook in the vegetable broth we chose.
Then dessert which is AMAZING. They give you a melted chocolate fondue of your choice. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate, and they add things in for you like peanut butter, and other things. We chose the s'more one so it was milk chocolate with a marshmallow sauce and graham cracker pieces. Then they give you this tray and it was filled with pound cake pieces, banana pieces, strawberries, cookie crusted marshmallows and cheesecake pieces. You dip those into the chocolate. Lorele and I were so stuffed when we were done but it was SO GOOD. I want to eat there every night! lol
Nerdbastards, the blog site I write for, may be closing down because the owner doesn't feel like doing it anymore. It went down for two weeks while he was on vacation because the server booted us randomly for having too much traffic, too much bandwidth, so the site went down. The owner of the site now feels like because we've been down for two weeks, we've lost the forward momentum we were gaining and doesn't know if its worth it to get it all back up again.
This being the case, my cousin and I have decided that if he does close down NB, we're going to start up one of our own. This one would be less nerd specific and more movie/entertainment/rock-metal music news and media sort of thing. Neither of us have the comic book knowledge to really keep the nerd thing up and going, but we're both really into movies and music, so it should be fun. The problem is we need to find a server to host us, pick and purchase a domain name, advertise, and find a site designer who will work for cheap (or even better, free.) It'll be a fun project if we can pull it off. If any of you have any contacts that might be able to help in these areas, it would be awesome if you could point me in the right direction.:-)
