Went downstairs in a really foul mood, a common occurrence after having read the news. Was struck by a sudden urge to watch Vincent. Have subsequently spent the last half hour grinning like an idiot. Was reminded of why the Nightmare Before Christmas DVD was one of the best purchases I've ever made. Just those few minutes of Vincent Price / Tim Burton goodness was worth every krona spent, for shear therapeutic value if not else.
:D
I read some stuff, thought of some other stuff, and voila: through the unholy powers of my brain I ended up with the phrase "tandem parachuting porn orgy".
And then I started speculating about the chances of hypothermia. I shouldn't be allowed to think of anything, ever. *snort*
Yeah, well, the other night I was a short way from home, and I heard these distant rumbling sounds. There also seemed to be a certain amount of noise and smoke coming from the blocks of flats nearby. I walked up from the viaduct where I was, to get a better view of what was going on. I have to admit that the sight of those half-ruined houses, part of one of them collapsing from some kind of grenade impact even as I stood there gawping, sort of caught me off guard. Then, through the smoke, I saw the source of the destruction.
Roughly the same size a skyscraper and vaguely resembling the Sentinels from X-men, they weren't exactly easy to miss. They were moving slowly amongst the houses further away, reducing them to rubble as they went. A steel skeleton that looked like the outlines of an overgrown hangar was erected on an open space, and some of the robots were busy scooping up the debris from the ruined houses and using it to build the walls for the huge building. Occasionally one of them would fire a grenade toward the surrounding neighbourhood.
I started panicking since I had an idea that a friend of mine who was in town for the week might have been in one of the blocks of flats that were under the most heavy fire. Part of me wanted to go looking for her, but most people who had escaped the destruction would probably have fled long ago, and I didn't want to be killed myself. The robots were closer by now, but they seemed to move slowly enough that I might be able to go to my house and save my most treasured possessions and make sure that no one was still inside before they got there. I turned and began to run.
And then... I met Sirius and Snape. Well, that sort of ruined the whole mood, didn't it. Not that I mind them stopping by, but they could have chosen a better moment. Since they were who they were there was much snarkiness going on, which soon enough turned to physical violence. Apparently they even forgot about their wands, and the whole mess resolved into a fistfight. Stupid gits. I would have liked to see how the robot plot ended (most likely with me getting trampled or blown apart by grenades, but still...).
I also had a large bag of candy. I don't know what was up with that, but I think maybe I bought it in a previous dream.
I've had several of this kind of disquieting but somehow fascinating dreams lately. This was the one I can remember best. I liked it a whole lot better than the one about the aeroplanes falling from the sky, or the one where I was waiting for Armageddon.
