She's nucking futs, I tell you!

Holy shit, the first few hours of last night's shift were action-packed. It started with the maintenance guys telling us that they were waxing the floor up front, blocking off half of the registers. So we had to scramble to clean up that area while the CSM's switched out the tills for the following day's sales.

Then I got on the register, where the cashier called the owner of a certain vehicle to come up front. There was a cop waiting up there, and he arrested the woman when she came up. I tried to keep an eye out for what was happening while serving my customers, so I only witnessed bits and pieces. The cop was trying to convince the woman to cooperate with him, but she was still being unruly. And I heard her yelling, "Get off me! Get off me!" as he was escorting her out of the store. They stopped at the next register, the cop saying he'd be back in a minute to get a statement from us about what happened. The woman was saying something about housewives, but since they were both talking at the same time, I didn't catch what she said.

The customer that was in my line was hoping they'd be gone by the time she was done with this transaction, and her daughter was saying, "Dude, that was kind of awesome!"

From then on, I was listening for as much of the discussion as I could. People were saying that the woman was kicking the cop outside. Then I listened to the cop talking to someone on his cell phone (I guess it was another cop or his superior.) He was saying, "You wouldn't believe if it I told you. You'd have to see my videos to believe it." He went on to explain that she told him she was married to a Jaguars football player who was cheating on her with a 20-year-old. (The co-workers just laughed, and I thought, "What does that have to do with anything?") The cop said that was none of his business. He was busting her for reckless driving and putting the public, the volunteer officers, and the road construction crew at risk. And he also busted her for creating a public disturbance, because people were staring at them. I'm sure the customer in my line wasn't the only one who was getting nervous. The cop also explained that when the woman came to the front after being called, she asked him, "Are you going to arrest me or not?" The cop just said that he was going to just speak with her about the problems, and she cut him off. Then the woman asked him for the third time, "Are you going to arrest me or not?" The cop said, "All right, you talked me into it. Put your hands behind your back." So apparently he arrested her because she was literally asking for it.

Finally, after the co-workers wrote their statements, the cop left the store.

Shortly after that incident, I got off the register and went to put away some returns on the grocery side. I got to the canned aisle, where a lesbian associate was working, and some other woman (her girlfriend, I assume) came up and started cussing and yelling at her. I didn't hear exactly what was being said, but I tried to listen as closely as I could from the next aisle. I didn't want to get involved, but I strongly felt that the girlfriend had no right to come in here and bitch at the associate while she was doing her job. Whatever the issue was, this wasn't the place for it. I know I can't concentrate on my work when I get pissed off, and I could tell that the associate was getting worked up. Then when they both walked out of the store (I assumed to continue arguing), I went straight to the manager and told her what was happening. And then I let her take care of things from there.

So yeah...last night was mentally exhausting.

Since the Kindle can read PDF files, I should learn how to create my own. I could put my favorite RP threads on it and read them on the go. That'd be awesome. I really need to save my favorite threads in case the other player deletes their journal for whatever reason. I've wanted to print out the threads so that I can read them off the computer, but I could never afford all that ink. So the Kindle would be a great alternative for that as well.

I watched some youtube videos, where one guy keeps a copy of his passport and his cruise tickets on his Kindle. I'm not sure if I want to make it that personal, but I can see how it'd come in handy. Like I can't hold onto my important documents to save my life.
