[ click! the camera flickers on shakily, showing just the sky at first -- and immediately, there's the sound of soft whimpering. a few quiet sniffles, too. it's not until a few seconds pass that the camera is angled to show tohru, miserably swiping his other arm over his eyes to wipe away tears.
he's kneeling on the ground, a
still, pale figure held loosely to his chest. there are no visible injuries on her, but she's clearly not moving, not breathing.
a hard swallow, before tohru mumbles, his voice shaky, ]
-- I -- found her. On the streets.
[ his words are quiet, and he's obviously trying very hard (and utterly failing) to calm himself down.
(he's lying. truth is, he killed her. didn't mean to. he'd just been so hungry, he'd attacked her with more force than he'd intended. he doesn't know what to do with the body. he doesn't want to leave it here to rot. he has to let someone know. this is the best way, right? he's too rattled to think properly.)
a forced, stuttering inhale, and he looks around. the fountain's just visible behind him. ]
