Ritual death? Certainly had necessary components: altar, jar. Jar for... blood? Organs?

Said removal of organs while still alive. Vivisection; nasty way to die. Also repeated mentions of sacrifice. More to be gained by sac. victim alive? Only thing that offers is pain/terror/suffering. Implication is thus that beings are emotionless/soulless.

"Meant to be educational?" Meant to see it. As warning? Explanation? Answers not clear, unlikely to be so even if question was posed.

Sacrifices not returned. Needed for something more? Or is it simply that they remove something that is necessary for return. Heart seems most likely; always been considered organ of power.

Creatures not hybrids. Related to spirits? Show wings like possessed did. Perhaps reason for why captors were so afraid of possessed - fear of these beings. But why would spirits wish death? Hate the Malnosso? Believe it to be to our "benefit". Why? Certainly force to be reckoned with, if warnings are indication. Can be overwhelmed with difficulty.

Why would spirits offer power and yet be willing to kill? Possible there's a change between inside barrier and out. Not meant to keep in, but keep other things out?. Confirmed. Barrier tehnology is imperfect - former breaches have occurred.

"Great deal of what exists here exists on belief". Belief of whom? In what? Belief keeps barrier up? Illogical. If belief held it up belief would be enough to break it.

Bah, none of this makes sense.
