so anyway...
for some reason or another, liza's boss had some tickets to the monster jam that he wasn't gonna use and gave them to her. so today off we go to take kristian to see the monster trucks. that was quite an experience,. first of all, let me say that the arena we went to is really really small. i mean there's a local highschool here that has a bigger football stadium. so when going to see monster trucks well it's a bit of a worry in such a small arena. it turned out ok no accidents or anything(though i did barely fit in the seats, they were so small) so the show starts and it's really friggin loud(made worse by the small space). i don't even know how to explain it. but there was just this 'hick' vibe all over the place. everyone shouting and screaming and stuff. the it gets 'really good'. they have this little four wheeler race where it's 'team texas' vs. 'team oklahoma'. it's alright, and team oklahoma wins. so the announcer has been interviewing all the winners, so he gets the captain from team oklahoma and starts interviewing him. and the guy comes out with all this 'yeah it was easy, texas sucks, you audience people are stupid cause you're texans' etc.. everyone in the audience start 'booooo you suck!' etc. and i look at liza and we just role our eyes. it's exactly like wrestling,.. but worse. this guy can't act and he's trying oh so hard to be an ass. and everyone's buying it,.. and it's just funny. needless to say there's a couple more races, and oklahoma wins every one and the guy just gets worse and worse(at acting). (i think by the second race i figured it's rigged) and then comes the finals, oklahoma wins,.. but due to a technicality, they're disqualified. so the audience cheers, cause the asshole lost and that's that. then some more monster truck stuff... and then another cool highlight. galactron(sp?) vs. reptar(©?). transforming robot car with flame thrower, vs. transforming snake car with flame thrower. they took like half an hour to transform. and even then they didn't move, just kinda stood there and showed their flame throwers to eachother. then one fired a shot of something(smoke i think hehe) and the snake blew up. and they both took another half hour to transform and drive out. tha's pretty much the whole show. except we were lucky enough to see the worlds first handicapped monster truck driver. we know that, cause the announcer said it every time that he mentioned him or the truck he was driving. EVERY time. it really got annoying.. liza and i were like shit, the first time it's ok.. the rest.. it's (to me) a bit like 'hey everyone give him a hand cause he's handicapped).
after that, we shopped for some furniture. (liza's gonna buy a couch tomorrow, and probably a 32in tv thursday)
then we picked up lino, and went to go eat. (costa mesa, if you're in the valley, go there)
then we still wanted to do something, and pool. we decided on this bar near lino's house. we went in and it was practically empty. the bartender was some chick in flip-flops and some raggedy shorts. .. the bar was just a bar with ice chests behind it. ( i saw no sign of mixed drinks just beer and bottled drinks). and some guy standing by the bar by himself which was kinda sad. liza kinda didn't wanna leave cause if we left that's like half the patrons. (i think part of the band stepped outside). but we just had one round and left. then we bought some smirnoff at the store and now we're just at home hanging out. all in all a pretty interesting day.
