I think that certain people are drawn to certain faiths, because those faiths work with them, their beliefs they have always held. Yes, Christians tend to raise Christians, but that doesn't mean that all Christians in one family believe the same thing. I was raised Christian, and now I'm Pagan. I think I've always been Pagan and always will be. And for me, it started when I was a very little girl, because it made no sense to me that God and Mother Nature weren't married. I didn't understand the Christian notion... In my head, Mother Nature was married to God, and Jesus was their child. Now, my beliefs are very similar to that, though God is the Nature God, the gods aren't seated in heaven, they're in the earth, and Jesus was a prophet, not the Son of God. The Son of God is God Himself, reborn at certain times of the year.
But I will always be Pagan. I was meant to be Pagan. It's in my blood, I guess you could say.
My personal opinion is that we shouldn't have any "organized" religion at all. I'm tired of these cookiecutter faiths churning out cookiecutter worshippers. Think how open-minded everyone would be if we all had our own, personal faiths? We would accept everyone (ideally) because we'd know that everyone's beliefs are slightly different... because everyone's beliefs ARE slightly different, but we're trying to cram them into a mold of a religion. That's why I'm disappointed in Wicca, to be honest... because they're doing the same thing. They're turning into an organized faith. If you look around the internet, they have dogmas and rules that a lot of them say you "must" follow if you want to be "Wiccan." This is why I say I am Pagan. Because it is a blanket term that gives people a general idea but still gives me the freedom to have my very own, unique faith.
