My Achilles isn't giving me near as much pain as it used to! I plan on resting it this week and possibly next week. This way I can end out the Read A Thon, too. After that I will probably hit the gym again. I can't run until I have no pain in my achilles while walking down the stairs (the only time I still feel actual pain) but I could do the bike. I really haven't done much in the way of working out or ANYTHING in a couple weeks. I'm definitely feeling it and need to get started again.
Today I have french bread rising and white bean soup cooking. It's kind of gotten me all bitten by the cooking bug again. It also helps that we sliced the Morbier cheese we made a few months back. OMG. It is SO FREAKIN GOOD. I liked the Gruyre we made but this Morbier is better! We've been bottling our beer so we've been using the kegerator as a cheese fridge. But I don't actually have cheese making supplies at home- we made cheeses at Dan's house and then we bring them home when they're pressed and (sometimes) waxed. I'd like to be able to make more cheese and make more use of the ricotta by product of cheese making. So I really need the supplies at home. Plus, it takes like HOURS to make cheese and it's not always convenient to spend an entire day sitting around Dan's house, waiting for the milk to reach a certain temperature. Cheese is a "sit around and wait" type of process. It takes a long time, but really most of it is waiting.
Once the Read A Thon is done, I'll need something to focus on or I'll languish. I think I will focus on getting back to real foods. Our grocery bill lately has been making me barf a little every time I go to the checkout line. I'm trying to get it under control, but the kids eat a shit ton of food. I don't eat all that much- an egg, a little bread, veggies, tons of yogurt (like everyday), coffee and whatever we eat for dinner. I don't even really snack and if I do, it's on fruit. I have been wanting to make sourdough for years. It's time to make a starter. I need to make my own yogurt from raw milk since I eat so much of it. I want to make Kevita so bad. The lemon/cayenne kevita is my fav thing ever but, at 3 bucks a bottle, I can't afford it every day (in fact, I haven't even been able to find it in weeks and I miss it.). I need to find water kefir grains for that, though.
OK. Today I need to wipe down my bathrooms that are looking pretty toothpasty and grimy, finish the last load of laundry, pick up the milk order, do VA readers at the school, go to one last chiro appt before I'm done with them for a while, and hopefully see a friend briefly.
