We had a wonderful visit with my inlaws. We went into DC to see the cherry blossoms on Friday. They were GORGEOUS! We had never been to DC while they were peaking, mostly due to crowds and parking, etc. But we found free parking and a free shuttle. We went to the Jefferson Memorial, watched some indian dancers (India, not American Indians) and meandered the beauitiful path of cherry blossom trees. My period also started, which was not so great because I wasn't really expecting it and i was wearing a thong and I had no tampon. It's hard to use toilet paper as a stand in in a thong! Argh. It worked for a while, though, until we finally made it around to the first aid tent and, lo and behold, they had a tampon! i was ecstatic and enjoyed the day much more when I wasn't paranoid. The rain had swelled the Potomac up SOOOO much. It had splashed over the walkways and the benches were almost covered in water. The kids had a blast. Not only had we gone for a walk in the rain around our neighbourhood that morning (about a mile), we also walked more than that around DC. They rocked.
Saturday Trevor had Little League and then we wanted to go geocaching but couldn't find the park we had the caches loaded. So we went to Great Falls Park instead and looked at the falls and watched a crazy kayaker battle the rapids. Then we ate dinner at Buffalo Wing Factory outside in the beautiful weather. It was so sunny and nice this weekend.
Sunday was rainyish. We mainly just chilled. In fact, i can't really remember what we did Sunday. Ray's dad had to go to the airport and they put the shed together in the backyard. Monday i took my MIL to BWI. It took over 2 hours due to a accident on 95. Bleh. But Rachael and Ariel were so funny in the car. They both have trouble with /j/ and pronounce it /g/ (hard sound). Ariel was making a story up about Jupiter and she says "the man landed on GOOPiter!" I was like "Ew! Was it mucky and sticky and Goopy?" She was like 'Noooo, mommy! GOOPiter is not goopy! it is GOOP! GOOP-I-TER!" She was laughing and we kind do this a lot. Finally Rachael says "Mommy. Ariel is TRYING to say GOoPiter." I had to laugh because she said it just like her sister and I said 'I know! It must have been awfully goopy on that planet." Ariel laughs and says "No, i think they just landed on Mars." It was funny.
I got to be the volunteer spotlight person in the PTA newsletter this month. So Liz wrote an article about me. It was neat. Today i need to run to the store and a friend is coming over later (11, i think?) so i suppose I should get moving and go dry my hair. The kids have spring break this week so we are enjoying our time together.
