Trevor and his friend

Trevor and Marcos have this like on again off again competative relationship. Really, they are great friends and play almost everyday. They forgive eachother quickly. But they are forever getting in these little spats that end in someone going home pouting. So one of these happened today. Marcos had come over and they went out and played. About an hour later Trevor comes in looking like his dog just died. We asked him what was wrong and he wouldn't talk to us. I kind of have a policy where I will ask what is wrong, and if they don't want to talk, I leave it at that. I don't badger it out of them. I sometimes will sit and hold/hug one of them if needed or wanted. I needed to cook dinner so we kind of left Trevor on his own. When dinner was ready we all sat down and Trevor finally sighs and says "If you want to know what happened to Marcos and me, I'll tell you about it now." He went on to explain how Marcos was running too fast for him and Trevor couldn't keep up. Then Marcos kept making all these sharp turns and Trevor fell and hurt himself. Then Trevor, I guess because he has to be best at something, did 5 pull ups and MArcos couldn't do it. So Trevor said "Then Marcos did this easy peasy thing and he kept telling me I was doing it wrong! And it was so easy and he was being dumb." So we talked to Trevor about being a good friend, we don't always have to be the best at things.. yadayadayada. Trevor understands.... and I'll make a side track here..

Trevor is obsessed with karate skills. He and his friends are always talking about how they are karate masters, even though none actually take karate. They just punch and kick the air a lot. So tonight Trevor goes on to tell us that Marcos told him that when he was three he kicked down a tree because he was so good at karate. Ray and I are talking seriously with Trevor at this point and we mention that he's probably exaggerating to show off. That part passes and Trevor is continuing to vent about things when he finally says, all frustrated and serious, "And, Marcos was showing off so much that how am I supposed to believe that he had such good karate skills that he knocked down a tree when he was three? I mean, how can he be such a good karate master when he can't even do five pull ups?" OMG.. up to then we are all having this serious conversation. But something about the way Trevor was taking so seriously Marcos' claim about his mad karate skillz at age three was so damn funny I about died. I had to leave the room because I was laughing and I didn't want to upset Trevor or let him think I thought his whole competition with his friend was kind of funny. I guess I am just awful.
