Geeze, I paid the power bill. Get this. It was 160 bucks. Last year? It was like 98 bucks. This year- we used 1500 kWH (whatevers) or electricity. Last year- 999. Our bill was so much higher that they sent this little notice with it saying that we could space out our average bill over the course of the year if we needed. I didn't. I just went ahead and paid it. But it pisses me off! I mean, we keep our A/C set at 80 in the house, it's always a fucking oven upstairs. Ray installed a fan in the hallway. We turn off lights when we're not in the room, we use those handy extra long lasting bulbs. We don't take very hot showers (esp since our house is an oven all the time, our showers are practically cold because we cool off then!). Basically, our AC kicks in constantly for like 10-15 minutes at a time. Our windows leak and so do our doors. The biggest disadvantage to renting? We aren't about to pay to replace these things. We put weather stripping on our windows. We plug the bottom of the backdoor with a towel in winter. We had our ducts cleaned, thinking it would improve the AC flow. Our AC gets checked lots. But really, we need new windows and a new AC (which I have complained about on here many times). Ray emailed the landlord about how much more our energy bill was and, if something wasn't done, we weren't renewing next year. But he's not going to do anything. He doesn't have to live here. And, for us, does the cost of moving really make up for the inefficient energy? I don't know. We have a roughly 1700 sq ft townhome built in 1984. The AC is original, as are the windows, I'm sure. Does the jump in our energy bill seem normal? I don't think it is. I know energy prices have gone up... but we have apparently somehow USED more energy with our AC set higher. It's quite frustrating.
I finally finished my english paper, typing and most editing. I finished typing it this morning and it was 2 pages short! Yikes. I had a whole section I could add on, though. Hopefully it's a B. I always say that, but then I get an A. So maybe it will be an A paper. Now I need to write this conflict paragraph about The Notebook. *sigh* Last night of English tomorrow. YAY! I am totally celebrating.
