Rainy rainy rainy rain. It has rained all day without stopping. We skipped playgroup because we couldn't motivate ourselves to go. Otherwise, it has been a productive day, just housebound by choice.
My kids have amused me today. And last night. Somehow Ray and I got on the topic of Trevor and his obsession with making fart noises. I mean, Trevor makes fart noises ALL THE TIME. It is amusing in small doses but gets incredibly annoying when, for instance, walking through a parking lot or a grocery store. Because Trevor doesn't just fart. He does these hugely gross juicy fart noises and then makes this sigh of ecstacy afterwards. He has got fake farting down to an art. Who sighs with pleasure after they fart? It's hilarious when Ray and I are talking about it after the kids are in bed. Not so hilarious during the day. heh.
Then this morning Trevor comes running into the kitchen and.. omg! His feet stuck to the floor. Not really, but he ran in and exclaimed "Oh no! My feet are stuck!" And spends the next 5 minutes attempting to "unstick" himself from the floor. He finally gets his feet up and goes "Wow, that was scary! Oh my god! They're stuck again!" It was totally out of the blue, I am making scones, the girls are milling around me. And Trevor is pretending, with great dramatics, that his feet will not lift from the floor. I have no idea where he gets his ideas sometimes.
Then today it was pouring rain and the kids played outside for a long time. They found a tea bag still in a wrapper in the parking lot of our complex. They took this tea bag, put it into a bowl and filled it with rain water and put it underneath the dryer vent to heat up and become tea. It worked! I wouldn't let them drink it- parking lot tea bag, rain water from the gutter with dirt "sugar" and all- but it sure smelled good when I opened the front door and they are huddled around the dryer vent (which was blowing hot air from our dryer). It smelled like Earl Grey.
And my little Rachael has, I think, her first crush. Trevor's friend Daniel is 9 and he comes over all the time. Last time he came over, Trevor got completely absorbed in legos and Daniel wasn't really into it. So he gave the girls horsie rides on his back. They had a lot of fun, it was really great of Daniel because they were just so giddy that someone will give them horse rides (Ray and I can't). But now whenever he comes over, she gets all smiley and just sits there looking at him and smiling at him. It's like puppy love. It's adorable.
