copied from a forum i post on because i'm uncreative and lazy.

SO THIS IS A STORY ALL ABOUT HOW MY LIFE GOT FLIP-TURNED (momentarily) UPSIDE-DOWN.

I was studying for a chain of FAIL (2 exams, 1 20-page documentation paper due, 1 presentation to give) finishing up tons of crap and just trying to be as productive as possible. As went to the library to study with a group of people to prepare for one of my exams (computer architecture). After reading over some lecture notes, one of them mentions that they had an archive of his old exams... so I was like "Yea, I'll take it... whatever." So he downloads my exams and I left a few minutes later to finish up all my other stuff.

Never opened the file... never looked at what's in it... the rest of the night (until 5am) I was studying my ass off until I pass out and wake up just in time to make it for my first exam of the day...

So I take the first exam and I did meh. Then I take the Computer Architecture exam and fail it pretty hard. Give the presentation... and then finish the document I had to write and turned it in. SUCCESS. So I'm done right? right? wrong. :(

Apparently word got out that someone had an exact copy of the exam (apparently the instructor recycles exams)... OH JOY. So an e-mail gets sent out saying that there was some alleged cheating, and that we all had to retake the exam. No problem... So I retake the exam... finish my other exam and begin to celebrate finishing up with finals. Me and a friend go out and hit up this awesome burrito/taco shack that's open super late... afterwards we head back into school and go into the lab he was working in to finish up his last class. I check my e-mail and find there's an e-mail from my professor with the subject name "Academic Misconduct"... It began reading...

"Brian,

I am aware of your downloading of materials which were taken from my file system by another student, and making use of this unauthorized information to enhance your grade on the original CDA 4205 exam. This is a very serious matter which has already caused great hardship for myself and all of the other students in the class. I am sure you are aware of the USF honor code, and the fact that this kind of act can result in anything from an F in the class to eventual expulsion from the University."

Here's the part where I pretty much shit bricks. So I ended up having to meet with the instructor 12 hours after I received the e-mail. And on top of that I had to write a letter essentially proving my innocence. IN 12 HOURS? So I really just threw down what happened and why I am pretty damn sure I didn't cheat. For one thing (and I didn't know my grade on the final at the time) I got a 30% on the final... so shouldn't that throw me out of suspicion of cheating entirely? I would have thought so... oh well..

So I talked to the instructor and told him exactly what happened. Gave him my statement and threw in the fact that I am pretty sure I failed the exam. He told me I sounded sincere and he doesn't think that I cheated.

SO THERE. All the charges were dropped and I walked out a free man. It's funny how in a relative short amount of time something can be thrown your way that completely fucks you up. Guess you have to learn to be tough about it and dodge dem bullets!!!! YEAAAAA SON!!!!

So I'm officially done with the semester.
Classes start monday for summer C.
dohhhh :(
