Today I need to do an article summary for my Environmental Problems class, go to my two classes, take semi-good notes, and get my phone fixed.
Yesterday I came back from Dippikill. It was actually a really good time, I had been kind of nervous about it because I've been a little bit of a mess lately, and I wasn't sure I wanted to drink or smoke at all. So I just kind of took it easy. Lt. Dan and Julia, however, were a wreck- but an entertaining wreck at that. We had 15 people in the 8 person cabin saturday night: Me, Adam, Chris, Jen, Rebecca, Julia, Mikey, Jon, Lt. Dan, Stool, Sean Devine, Pierce and his girlfriend Kelly. Luckily almost everyone had a place to sleep, except Lt. Dan who was first made to sleep out on the picnic table and then told he had to sleep on the floor of the closet. Don't feel bad for him, he definitely deserved it. We spent a good amount of time outside, which was definitely a plus. Unfortunately there were no canoes, but we hung out by the pond for a couple of hours on Saturday.
Last week I was a train wreck. Or I thought I was a train wreck, I kept picturing myself failing at life and living in a homeless shelter. Which of course is an over dramatization, but since I rarely worry about anything- the idea of living in a cardboard box with seven teeth in my head and wild, crazy hair scared the crap out of me. I can't keep doing half of the things I'm doing, so I've basically stopped. Last tuesday I skipped a class I KNEW i couldn't skip just to go to the liquor store with Chris, Rebecca, Adam and Jon. And proceeded to pass out at 5pm. That's embarrassing. The only reason I'm telling ANYONE about it is because it bothers me how much I've changed. I used to not drink or smoke at ALL, or just very infrequently. That's what it should be. I don't need to do this shit every weekend. So I'm not going to. I have enough school work to keep me busy. And I've been rollerblading a little bit here and there, which is something I like to do, even if I'm not very good at it.
This month has been insanely busy. California was a blast- Adam and I basically got drunk with his 67 year old grandma every night. I saw the Pacific Ocean and Redwood trees, which were my two requests. We stayed in this little 1915 cabin that was built by Hoover, and was crawling with little animals. They didn't bother us at all though. At night we would stay up and talk with Carol or whatever guests she'd have around for hours over wine and dinner. It was very very nice. The scenery up there is breathtaking, I was a little annoyed that we didn't get more pictures of the mountains, but I forgot my camera. Northern California may have surpassed Family Camp as my favorite place in the world. Everyone there is like, Ultra-Liberal. They live in cabins and grow their own food not out of necessity, but because they want to go 'back to the Earth'. One haircutter had to leave town because she was looking for a husband, and she didn't want to date a Vegan. I had never seen so many dreadlocks and tams in my entire life. It was definitely very cool.
I'm going home this weekend... I think. Diane has been stage manager for a show in New Paltz, and I'd like to see it Friday night. Then I could get my own roller blades and a few other things that I've needed from home. Long update. But whatever. Enjoy life.
