Finally. There are some red hot pokers in my academic fire. If everything goes according to plan, they might bring hot stabbity death to my lack-luster resume.
The first poker I proposed is to mine the archives for commercially viable data, then jump through the fiery hoops of publication. This idea has been met with enthusiasm by one of several people who would need to green light it.
The second poker I proposed is for a paper. We'll see where that goes.
Drexel doesn't require a thesis for the LIS program, but they do have a practicum. Which is bad news for someone who works full time. I'm bating a professor with my proposals in the hope that the combined efforts will be sufficient to count as an unorthodox practicum.
In other news, why the eff is History of the Book not offered online?? I am salivating over that class, and goddamnit, I'll schlep onto campus for it if I have to! RAWR!
In other, other news, I woke up this morning to find
the air in New Jersey is a little less tainted by the smell of corruption. Wait, what the fuck?! Where is my taint smell?? Oh, it moved to Phoenix, AZ:
"4 Boys accused of raping a 9 year old girl; family does not want girl back b/c she brought shame on them." And just to show that not everything is awful, here's the
website of Rania, Queen of Jordan. She's a long time advocate for increasing the standard of education in impoverished areas and has championed equality in education for girls. And hot-damn, she looks good doing it!
PS - Wolf Blitzer is an ass.
