Thank you to those who tried to help me yesterday. As is typical here in the City, I do apologize for any rudeness, I wasn't exactly myself.

There was a great deal of death in the City yesterday, but it seems to have righted itself which is still damned unnatural to me but my opinion hardly matters and I hope that those affected are recovering as ( Read more... )

Consumption of human flesh.

It's almost poetic. Or it would be, if it wasn't quite so literal.

It's sick, there's nothing poetic about it and unfortunately it's not entirely uncommon from where I'm from.

You don't think so? Consuming another person? I'm sure poets over the years have overused the metaphor.

I'm sorry, but it doesn't sound like you're from too pleasant a place.

The Order's Enclaves are fine for the most part, but you hear stories from the lands outside.

And I've never particularly cared for that metaphor, consuming, there are better ones to be had.

What would you recommend, then?

Tasting, indulging, savoring... all are more pleasant than being consumed.

I don't like the idea of being consumed. Lost, overwhelmed in the pleasure of the moment, but consumed never. It implies a complete loss of self.

I've been described worse.

Mara Lesser, the pleasure is mine. How long have you been in the City Mr. Gray?

nobodyneedknow October 16 2009, 18:48:03 UTC
I rather admire it, I'll admit.

Not long. Less than a month.

You're one of the few, then.

Welcome, then. I hope it hasn't been too difficult for you.

Really? I should then act upon my urge and invite you for a drink, and we can discuss that further.

Not terribly difficult, no, Miss Lesser.

Please, if you're going to invite me out for a drink, call me Mara.

Mara.

If you'll let me be so familiar.

I'm rarely formal unless I'm working or at an Order-sponsored gathering, so please, feel free.
