Eiji’s eyes widened and watered. He knocked over an empty plate in his attempt to down every glass of water in sight. Kawamura stood up, Oishi following him, and together they searched the backroom for milk. Fuji merely chuckled and continued to eat his wasabi rolls. Momo was talking animatedly, gesturing wildly with his hands (more than once he hit an annoyed Kaidoh on the head). Ryoma bounced a tennis ball against the tiled floor, looking disinterestedly at Momo.

Inui was scribbling away in his notebook, probably data collected while he was in the hospital. He had been discharged from the hospital that morning, a little earlier than expected, but the nurses had probably wished to get him home as quickly as possible before he started experimenting with Inui juices in the IVs.

Oishi returned, sliding in-between Tezuka and Eiji, offering Eiji a carton of milk and Tezuka a slow, placating smile. Kawamura was just about to go get another plate of wasabi sushi to replace the one Fuji had just finished, when his father emerged, carrying a camera and insisting on a group picture.

They all crowded around the trophy, arms slinging around shoulders in their attempt to squeeze into the camera’s view. Kaidoh doesn’t look half as murderous as usual, even as he’s being pushed into Momo, and Ryoma doesn’t seem to mind Eiji ruffling his hair. Tezuka’s not smiling, but he’s not frowning either, and Kawamura thinks he feels his eyes moistening along with Oishi’s.
