Death. When natural, it is the most natural event that can occur. It is completion, a finale, the last resounding note of the symphony of your life played out. You go back to the universe from which you came.

[There's the snap-hiss of a lighter and the drag of a cigarette.] At least that's how the philosophers put it.

Cut for rambling on how a Reaper kills. )

where are my drugs?, the reaper knows, what do i do with this?, death becomes her, happy child once, did the order do this?, buy me a drink

There has to be someone here who can see what happened to you when you died, Mara.

Always okay by me... cry_reaper March 24 2010, 01:15:36 UTC
Well, they haven't stepped forward.

I expect because they have no incentive to do so.

Pay someone?

On such casual terms with me, Mara? How forward of you... but I suppose what you did was rather intimate. Still, you should ask before taking such a step to see if I feel the same.

You did me a service, I wanted to thank you publicly. Was there a title I omitted?

Acknowledging my help is appropriate. But yes, you neglected my title~.

I don't believe I ever got it.

That sounds nice. I wish I would've gone that way.

Thank you for explaining that. Is that something that your world needs? Someone to help move you along?

Yes. Some idiotic group of scientists decided that dying of old age was inconvenient. They created a virus that eliminated all of the physical symptoms of aging. The resulting immortality sent the world into chaos. Imagine it, overpopulation, food shortages, and then the madness began. People going crazy after a certain amount of time lived... a side-effect of immortality.

The Order created my kind to combat it. We can sense when people are close to that insanity, when their time to die has come. We can sense it for fatal illnesses, wounds and the like as well.

Please, stop me if I'm talking too much.

No, this is really interesting and it makes a lot of sense. Do you sense the dead people around here, then? Or just not feel anything towards them- I know it's got to be a weird situation for you.

I actually died of a virus myself- well, kind of. I was infected by an ancient demon god-king thing. It was honestly terrible. I don't think I'd want to live forever, but I never expected to go out that way.

...sorry, that just seems to be what I'm stuck on, today.

Death is my existence, dreary as it is.

And my senses... vary. The city's version of the dead... they confused my senses a great deal, still do even though I've joined their ranks so to speak. And the vampires and demons and...

It's been quite difficult.

Oh, I'm fine. No lasting effects from recent misadventures.

Good, I didn't think there would be... but... you can never tell in this place.

Sounds nice for the dying person, but not so much for you.

It's what I was born to do. Most of the time I just... try to forget about it.
