[Draco had grown rather bored as of lately, so he had taken to going out and exploring the area around the village. The problem was that he wasn't finding anything even remotely interesting. However, as he keeps moving he soon sees something that he's quite surprised to see. He stops and just stares though because...what.]

[It's good to see him somewhere other than the lake! But really, Harry's paying more attention to his definitely not dead owl, who is flying around like she owns the place. Look at that smile, though!]

[Well. He had known that Crookshanks had arrived thanks to a discussion with Hermione, so he's not too shocked to see Hedwig. Of course, it helps that he didn't know she was dead. However because of the sudden appearance of the pets, Draco had acquired a few owl treats that he's keeping in his pocket, just in case his own eagle owl were to turn up. Pulling one out of his pocket, he's going to approach the boy and his owl, lightly nudging Harry with his elbow while holding the treat in his palm for Hedwig. He can't really say much about Harry's sheer glee beyond the fact it's kind of good to see, so he focuses on the owl.]

And when did she turn up?

[Treats? This boy has treats? Well, count Hedwig in for that. She'll swoop down and land on something nearby, hooting curiously. Harry's still beaming.]

Just last night. Didn't think she was going to turn up.

[Draco just smirks at Hedwig, more or less silently asking Harry if he's allowed to give her the treat. Some people are very particular about their owls. He is, after all.]

Well Granger got that ridiculous beast of a cat back. Why wouldn't the owl turn up?

[Harry nods, and Hedwig gives a more demanding hoot. She wants that treat. His expression falters at the question, however.]

Back home, she... died. She died when we were leaving Privet Drive.

[Oh all right. Ruddy owl. Draco moves closer and allows Hedwig to take the treat from his hand, but his attention's on what Harry's saying.]

You mean during that battle we saw. The one in the air.

[Hedwig takes that treat and hoots appreciatively. Harry's still gloomy so he's going to pet the top of her head.]

That's the one. An Avada Kedavra hit her while she was in her cage.

[normally there would be something kind of ironic that Draco would mention about that fact, but he has learned some tact]. So really it's been almost been a year for you...

[Harry's not going to point that out. Hedwig seems to notice that Harry's at least friendly with this person, so she'll just be enjoying her treats and her pettings.] Yeah... I didn't think I'd see her again.

Well, if the Malnosso can bring back dead people, I suppose that applies to animals as well, doesn't it? [Still, he's giving Hedwig a curious and suspicious sort of look like she's going to zombie out on him or something.]

I guess so. I'm not going to complain. [Hedwig hoots expectantly. Pay your respects to the queen, you mere mortal wizards!]

Because complaining means they'll find some way to mess it up even worse, I bet. [He just looks down at Hedwig then.] You're rather demanding, aren't you? Not like my own. [But here, because you belong to Harry you can have one more treat.]

Exactly. Getting her back is one of the better things they've done. [Hedwig shakes her head. She's not demanding, just asserting her need for attention. She takes the treat rather happily.] She can be a bit mean if she feels like it. Absolutely brilliant bird, though.

Suppose we should be grateful. [Petting, petting.] If your owl bites me, I don't promise not to smack her with a newspaper or something. Snowy owls do tend to be a bit intelligent...but not as much as eagle owls.
