I had an interview with a local nanny agency the other day, and they said they are definitely interested in helping to place me, and think they will have no trouble doing so.
We have January as our final date so far, but I'm wondering if it won't be sooner, since we are all getting ready to start interviewing. MomBoss has an ad up on enannysource (where they found me) that looks good, so I'm glad to see they are serious and working on finding a replacement. So far the agency has let me know about 2 potential matches for me, one with an 8 month old boy, one with a 3.5 yo girl and a 3 month old girl. They both want someone pretty soon, but we'll see how long it takes for them to find a new nanny for LittleBoy.
TinyBoy isn't going to be mine for very much longer - he turns 3 on the 29th, and will start preschool shortly after. His grandparents are all going to pitch in some extra time, and his Mom is going back to work full-time. Sad! So I'm not totally sure when my last day with him will be, but probably it'll be in November.
It's hard making changes, but I feel good about it. My appt. at the fertility clinic got pushed back until the 27th, so we won't know anything on my end for a while. In the meantime I am downloading podcasts about adoption and foster care, both of which are seeming more viable as I learn more about them.
I think LittleBoy is going to be very upset with me when I tell him I'm leaving, but I've been preparing him for it, explaining that I'm getting older and it's almost time for me to be a Mommy, and that if I am going to be one I need to work close by my house. That I might adopt a kid, and I don't know yet how old they'll be, and that I will probably be a nanny one more time before that. That I still want to have him one Friday night a month, just like our other NannyFriend and her ex-charge do. That I'll love him even when I don't see him every day.
The hours on the potential jobs are long, since the kids aren't in school yet, but with young children there is also more downtime throughout the day when they nap. Also, I would be home earlier in the evening every day because they're closer to home. Whee!
