Why i like organic chem
the teacher is awesome. In molecular orbital theory, there are bonding and anti-bonding orbitals for valence electrons to fill. So, if I were to draw a molecular orbital diagram for H bonded with H, I would have a filled sigma-bond orbital, and a higher energy, unfilled sigma anti-bonding orbital, called sigma*: "sigma-star".
So my chem prof's freshman roommate in college was also a chem major, and she started using the * in everyday life. For instance, "Hi! I like you shirt ... Star!"
"Hi! You're really cool ... Star!"
and i find this hilarious.
Other news: I went clubbing for my first time ever last night. It was this Indi club that had more chill-music than dance music, but it was a lot of fun. Megan says its the only not-sketchy club around. There was a band that played that was also pretty groovy. The only think cool* about it was the dude who tried to do stand-up.
Fat, ugly white guy trying to do stand-up: "You guys fucking suck. Fucking shut up! So I was late getting the fuck over here tonight. Do you wanna know fucking why? It's cuz my roommates were shaving their fucking balls. You guys suck. All of you are fucking haters and I will fucking find you and beat you up. Okay, who's fucking talking? Someone beat him up. So they were fuckin shaving their balls. In the fucking shower. And it took a freakin fucking long fucking time. What's up with shaving your balls anyway?"
Zack: "I dunno, what?"
Fat ugly white stand-up man: "Fuck. Would you guys shut up? Why wont you fucking laugh? Fuck."
This went on for like half an hour.
