It was when Jinri shuffled into the bathroom with her eyes still half-closed and her hair sticking up in all directions that Soojung realized she's in love. The thought hit her like a ton of bricks and she froze, toothbrush dangling out of her mouth as she watched Jinri's reflection in the mirror while the other girl yawned and rubbed her eyes tiredly.
"Soojung-ah."
It made sense, now that she thought about it. All the puzzle pieces fell into place and everything made sense. The way her temperature would increase when Jinri touched her, the way her stomach would twist in the most pleasant way when Jinri smiled at her, the way her heart would flutter when Jinri would say her name.
"Soojung-ah."
Yes, it made perfect sense, she thought. As soon as she walked into a room Soojung's eyes would find her and would stay on her until the other girl met her gaze and flashed her a grin and then Soojung would have to turn away to hide the blush that threatened to take over her face. Anytime she spoke Soojung would hang on to her every word, eyes wide with adoration while Sunyoung and Amber would chuckle in the background.
"Soojung-ah!" She punctuated each syllable with a poke to the side and Soojung blinked, restarting the motion of her hand. She felt the older girl's eyes on her as she finished brushing her teeth, spitting the toothpaste into the sink and rinsing her mouth. She met them for a second as she turned to leave before looking away quickly to calm the thundering in her chest. Jinri's voice made her pause as she left the bathroom.
"You look nice today."
Soojung smiled to herself, a blush heating up her face, and made a mental note to ask someone for advice on this whole being in love thing.
---
As it turns out, asking your older sister for love advice is a terrible idea. When she called Jessica later that day, barely giving time for her to drawl out a hello before blurting out I'm in love, hysterical laughter was the last thing she expected. Shocked silence, maybe. Spluttering sounds of surprise, sure, that could happen. A low, protective growl of who? was plausible, but Soojung found herself struggling to respond to the mad woman on the other end of the line.
"Stop laughing. I'm serious. This is serious."
More laughter followed and Soojung felt her patience quickly draining.
"If you don't stop laughing I'm going to hang up."
No dice. She hung up and huffed, slumping against the nearest wall. She should have picked someone less useless to call. A few minutes later her phone rang, the screen flashing Jessica and she let it ring a few times to make the idiot wait.
"Have you calmed down now?"
Barely muffled laughter was the response. She heard the phone being taken away from Jessica before someone spoke.
"I told her to call back and apologize but..."
"It's okay, unnie. It's not your fault she's ridiculous." Tiffany's laugh sounded like angels and Soojung briefly wondered Jessica did to land someone so perfect.
"So you're in love, huh?" She could hear Tiffany's smile through the phone and she blushed. Maybe calling her sister wasn't so pointless after all.

Despite Tiffany's careful coaching, her encouraging words and her 50 000 ideas for a romantic confession (and much much more of Jessica's decidedly unhelpful guffawing) it took Soojung months before she told Jinri how she felt, and even when she did it was a complete accident.
She was on the couch with Jinri watching a movie. Well, Jinri was. Soojung was too busy enjoying the way Jinri felt leaning against her, playing with her hands and tapping away at her legs absentmindedly. She barely had any clue what the movie was about. Something funny, she supposed, since Jinri would shake against her every now and then.
Jinri sighed wistfully and Soojung was brought out of her thoughts of Jinri's lovely fingers and Jinri's gorgeous lips and Jinri's perfect face and Jinri's wonderful eyes and Jinri's exquisite everything.
"What is it?" She asked looking curiously from Jinri to the TV screen and back again. The older girl leaned further against her and rested their heads together.
"Wouldn't that be nice?"
Soojung's brow furrowed. Wouldn't what be nice? She looked at the screen again and saw the two main characters (she assumed) snuggled together in bed in a moment of morning-after bliss (again, she was assuming but the messed up hair and apparent lack of clothing left little room for argument). Once her brain had fully processed what she was seeing as well as Jinri's words, she felt her face explode into an almost violent shade of red.
"That?" She squeaked, voice cracking slightly. Jinri coughed.
"I mean, well, that's... um. That's probably nice too but it wasn't really what I- I just thought waking up to a kiss would be nice."
It might have been the familiarity of Jinri's frame against her own or the slight smile she heard in her voice or the way she could hear the older girl's relaxed breathing as she waited for a response, but Soojung suddenly found that her brain had malfunctioned and she couldn't stop her next words from tumbling out of her mouth.
"I could do that for you. Naked, too."
She almost flinched when she felt Jinri sit up and turn to face her. She felt like her face would burst into flames any second and she wanted to melt into the couch they were sitting on just disappear. Staring pointedly at the TV and avoiding eye contact like her life depended on it, Soojung coughed in the hope it would cover up any awkwardness between the two of them. It seemed to work because eventually Jinri relaxed her posture and resumed leaning against the younger girl. Soojung screwed her eyes shut. If she ignored the fact that her heart was almost beating out of her chest then it was almost like she didn't say anything at all.
---
Soojung was in bed later that night, facing the wall and mentally berating herself, when she heard a quiet shuffling behind her. She held her breath and tried not to move. After a moment or two of almost unbearable waiting she felt Jinri slide in behind her and sling an arm over her waist. The silence between them stretched on and it was only when Soojung opened her mouth to ask what the hell was going on that she felt lips ghost across her shoulder. She sucked in a breath and turned to face the older girl.
Jinri peered at her through the darkness for a moment before moving forward and pressing her lips against Soojung's. Her stomach flipped and her heart swelled to bursting point and her happiness bubbled up in her throat in the form of a squeal, but she figured that would freak Jinri out so she settled on pulling her closer and pressing their mouths together more insistently. Nails scraped at her back under her tank top and the feeling shot straight between her legs. She made a noise of approval and felt Jinri smile against her mouth.
When they finally broke apart Soojung buried her face in Jinri's neck, her smile threatening to break it in two. She sighed happily and the older girl giggled quietly in response and Soojung loves it.
"I love you, you know." She whispered into the skin of Jinri's neck before planting small kisses on the column of her throat. Jinri hummed in response and ran her hand up Soojung's back.
"I know." Soojung lifted her head in surprise, she thought she was at least kind of subtle about it, and Jinri beamed.
"As hard as she tried, Tiffany-unnie hid it worse than you."
Jinri laughed as Soojung gaped and made a mental note to go to different unnies the next time she needed advice.
---
When Soojung woke up the next morning it was to the feeling of lips moving across her collarbone, teeth nipping at her skin every so often. She groaned pleasantly and Jinri smiled at her before moving up to claim her lips. Neither of them were naked, Soojung thought, but you've got to start somewhere, right?
