*Spoilers will be cut, b/c I know some people don't have/haven't finished*
I went to DC on Friday night, so there was no midnight release party for me (and of course, Chip was there!). Saturday morning, Sarah and I went to get our books when Books-A-Million opened at 9am. We stood in line yapping w/ people for like 20 minutes, which is always one of my favorite parts of Harry Potter stuff, meeting all the other crazies. I was third in line again (it was the same for OotP). I tried to read on the ride home, but I was still messed up from the night before and got kinda nauseous. I hadn't slept yet, but still read for 2 hrs before I had to sleep, since I had to work at 3. Between 3 and 11 I read and worked, and then went home and finally finished around 1:30am. As Kate and Sarah would tell you, I was hilarious the whole day, gasping, laughing and talking to the book. I need to stop. But I really think its my favorite book of the series so far. I'll need at least another reading to decide, but I'm letting Kate read it right now b/c I got her so re-excited to read it. I was so excited and read too fast, but here goes my thoughts...don't read if you don't want to know what happens, b/c some crazy ass shit went on...and watch out for the comments too, if there are any...
Oh my god this book was fucking crazy. I still cling to an extremely tiny hope that Snape isn't bad. I can't believe he killed Dumbledore. I hope hope hope that it was just b/c he HAD to do it that he did it. It had to be part of Draco's job right? So then its part of the Unbreakable Vow. There is definitely evidence that he isn't all bad. Like the fact that when he left his office to "fight" the death eaters, he could have done something to Hermione and Luna, but didn't. Instead, sent them into his office w/ Flitwick where they would be way less likely to get hurt. From what I remember, he didn't curse anyone on the "good" side, even harry. I could be wrong, I read through all that shit so fast just so I could know what happened I'm sure I missed stuff. Dude, and the Inferi? And horcruxes? She comes up with some cool ass shit. (And I have totally read a fanfic w/ things sort of like Inferi in them). I can't even imagine a whole army of Inferi, from the first war. I wish she'd write about that one. Of course, I'm sure we're missing a lot of gruesome stuff since we see stuff from (mostly) Harry's perspective. The first two chapters were pretty cool. I really liked seeing a bit more of Narcissa. How have the captured Death Eaters not escaped? What is guarding Azkaban? I hope they didn't tell us and I missed it. Dumbledore's hand was creepy. The whole scene in that cave thing where Dumbledore is drinking that stuff was super hard to read. The minister is an ass. I CAN'T BELIEVE HARRY AND GINNY GOT TOGETHER. Ron and Hermione were cute. Ron + Lavender = Gross. Hermione being a catty catty girl = LOVE. I was sooo hoping Seamus was the HBP, but Snape was my second guess!!! OH! And the note inside the locket/fake horcrux? I totally think the initials R.A.B. stand for Regulus Black. Dude, and Harry not going back to school!? Insanity! And the school may not stay open? I need book 7. I can't believe Amelia Bones died. I was surprisingly upset by this. She was good and fair and she would have made a really good Minister (Mistress?) of Magic. And Bill!?! EEp! Lupin and Tonks!! Ahhh! I know some people that will be so excited by that. I was just really starting to like Dumbledore too, after what happened in the fifth book. All the memories of Tom Riddle were very cool to see. What am I missing? I can't believe Malfoy smashed Harry's face. I can't believe he cried to Moaning Myrtle! I feel kinda bad for him. I need either him or Snape to be good. There has to be a good Slytherin SOMEWHERE, right? Maybe it'll turn out to be Blaise Zabini. What are the other Horcruxes? I wonder what made Dumbledore finally give Snape the Defense job? Was it just b/c Slughorn was coming to the school? Or was it something more? And does anyone else think that the reason Dumbledore gives for trusting Snape isn't the whole story of why? I can't believe it was him that heard the prophesy!? We still didn't learn why Voldemort told Lily to "stand aside". He didn't want to kill her, and I think that there has got to be something to that. The Felix Felicis was cool. I loved how Harry made Ron think he had taken some. I still can't believe Ron got with Lavender. Typical boy. And I can't believe that Harry didn't play with ANY of the girls that wanted him. Atypical boy. Okay, I've talked myself out for now.
God I loved every freaking minute of this book, even when I hated it.
