This is the story of a book called On Becoming a Woman, which was published in the early 1950s. A girl on lj found it, was appalled, and wrote about it in her lj. Complete with scanned excerpts from the book. A must read for any gender studies lover. I wonder if Rodney has ever seen this book? It even talks about how masturbation deprives you of all your "nervous energies". I thought that was Victorian-era stuff?
