Title: You Make Me Live
Characters: Rian Baxter/Randy Bosch
Requested by: wolfwithaguitar (prompt: Happy!Rian)
Notes: A little Queen, a little lunch, and the man of her dreams makes Rian a happy, happy girl. Pure fluff with love for Rian's squishy and personal rock god. :P

"...the man seriously needs to get his head examined if...Rian?"

Rian blinked, realizing she'd been doing the 'staring with a goofy smile on her face' thing. "Hmm?..."

"Where were you just now?"

"Right here!" she assured him, sneaking a hand across the desk to steal a Dorito from the bag in front of him, smirking at his mock dirty look. "I'm right here...heard every word you said. Peter Frampton and Tommy Shaw need to take advantage of the new gay marriage law since they belong together. Frampton is a douche, and Tommy should die of gonorrhea and rot in Hell."

"That's not what I said."

"Well, it's close enough. You're too nice to say it outright."

The remark earned her a smile and a laugh as Randy took a bite of his sandwich, followed by a swig of his SoBe. It was becoming a habit to bring him lunch whenever she was in the area and eat in the basement...not only did it give them time to see each other around their busy schedules, but she enjoyed the intimacy of it. Hell, sometimes it was downright romantic, depending on what he had playing on his iPod dock. Today it was Queen's "You're My Best Friend," which was making her feel more sappy than anything...and yes, it was still kind of romantic because it really fit them so well. At least it did in her opinion.

"So, enough about my latest problems with the music scene. How's your day going?"

Although she was tempted to return the question with a quip about the hot brunette she'd shanghaied into an afternoon delight just to watch him blush, instead she smiled at him openly. "Not much...bird dogging Granddad on a case today, got to grab a file from Lucy upstairs before I leave, and I just realized five minutes ago that you make me completely, totally, and semi-ridiculously happy."

She could tell, looking into his eyes, that she'd caught him off guard...but maybe in a good way, judging by his smile. "I do?"

Rian nodded, smirking just a little. "Mmm-hmm. I'd say just plain ridiculously happy, but judging by what a good thing I've got? I don't think it's all that ridiculous to be happy, know what I mean?"

"Well...you make me happy, too."

The honesty of it...the way his eyes shone, just for a second, with the kind of surprise he made her feel every day, almost made Rian want to cry happy. Instead, she just leaned over and kissed him, smiling against his lips as she drew back just enough to speak.

"I'm having less and less trouble every day, believing that." she assured him.

His smile, then, was the one she wanted...real and deep satisfaction. Giggling, she kissed him again and leaned back in her seat again as she started to sing along...deliberately singing flat.

"You know I'll never be lonely...you're my only one..."

"You're doing that on purpose..."

"And I love the things...I really LOOOOOOOOOVE the things that you do..."

"Stop it!"

"...oooooh, you're my BEST frieeeeend...still love me?"

"Yes. Will you stop it now?"

Rian grinned, snapping a cheery salute as she took a bite of her meatball sandwich, chewing and swallowing before she answered. "Whatever you say, sweetie...whatever you say."
