(no subject)
So, yesterday was my birthday. I'm 20 now, and I feel old. It's kind of overwhelming thinking about not being a teenager anymore. I do hope that my twenties are better than my teens. Anyway, yesterday was fun. April, JD, and Jessica came over and we watched the MLS Cup with my parents. The Dynamo won!!!! For me! Well, not really, but I like to think that's why they won. AND they put in Stuart Holden, my favorite player who doesn't get to play very much. AND he scored one of the penalty kicks at the end of the game (it went double overtime and then into a PK shootout to decide the game). Oh, Stuart. Anyway, Friday night, April, JD, Jessica, my parents and I went to dinner at Chuy's. Amy was supposed to come but she must've caught something whoring and didn't feel well enough to come. Afterwards, April went home and then my family and I played Loaded Questions. That was quite fun and my sister, I have discovered, is completely retarded. I don't think we're related.
Saturday night, the five of us (being my mom, dad, sister, her bf, and me) went down to Galveston to visit my grandfather because he likes to go there. Victoria, his 17-year-old adopted daughter, and he boyfriend were along for the trip. Well, Victoria got pregnant a few months ago with Ronnie's baby. Ronnie got kicked out of his house, so he's been living with my grandfather and Victoria. Well, Victoria lost the baby a few weeks ago, and now we're left wondering why my grandfather is still allowing Ronnie to stay with them, especially because he's a stupid asshole who won't amount to anything and there isn't a baby in the picture anymore. I can understandd his living with them while Victoria was pregnant and after the baby was born, but now he has no excuse. We'd never met him before this weekend, and I don't feel like I'm being too judgmental when I say that he's an idiot. Despite the fact that he's still just a high school boy, I could not see him being a father. He's violent (he was proudly telling us abotu the time he broke a guy's arm in two places on purpose while playing football), he has absolutely no resepect for women (he calls his mom a whore and a slut in complete seriousness, yet he's the one who got someone pregnant at 17), and he's inappropriate (he says that he can't wait for his dad to die so he can get his inheritance). All he is is just a braggart, and he really has no reason to brag. I guess I'm not used to people being that idiotic, and I know that they live a very different life from me, but come on. He was saying all of these thing to impress us, but it did nothing but make us concerned. Also, neither Ronnie nor Victoria have graduated from high school and they've both dropped out. They don't have jobs. All they do is sit around and watch TV all day. They say they're working on getting their GEDs, but I highly doubt that. They have no excuse anymore for not getting off of their asses and getting jobs. I don't know, I just don't like seeing my grandfather being taken advantage of, and that's what I think is happening. I just can't imagine someone being that lazy. They're both old enough to work and they're not in school, so why should he provide for both of them? Victoria, I can understand why he provides for her, but not Ronnie. She is still his dependent and he is still responsible for her, but she was the one stupid enough to get pregnant. And this was not a freak accident either, like one of those 1% of times that condoms or birth control don't work. She was on birth control, but she wasn't responsible enough to take it every day. Honestly, it's her stupidity that caused all of this mess. Argh, I just don't know how people can be so lazy and stupid!
I've been loking at classes for next semester. I can't register until the 20th, unfortunately, but it shouldn't be a problem. I'm looking at taking Intro to Literary Studies (an eng class I have to take), Am Lit since 1865 (I'm taking the first half of this right and I don't like it that much. I'll be taking it with a diff prof if I do take it, but I might take something else instead of this), From Homer to Hollywood (a classics class that studies movies that adapt Homer's epics... I'm really excited abotu this class), and Anceitn Greece with the same professor I have for Ancient Civ right now. I absolutely love Ancient Civ and my preofessor, so I'm really excited about this class.
Anyway, I should be writing a paper or something right now. Thanks for the birthday wishes, everybody. I'll see most of you in about a week or so hopefully!
