bones and fringe flail yet again

Apr 30, 2010 00:33

I need to update this more. I will. I swear. I shall do a separate post of what's happened in my life lately, but first, Bones and Fringe because that's where all the cool kids are at. ;) And probably Castle. I'll try to refrain from letting Castle take over.

Once again, the Fringe section will be x-posted to happyfringeday. I owe them the last three eps now. Eek. Don't kill me. Check that place out for theories and reviews on Fringe. They are quite good and hilarious and interesting.

Lastly, I'd like to welcome my new friends: not_as_we, steph0202, and boutondor. Welcome to my insane world. ;)

Bones

Rock n Roll, dude. That was hilarious with the testicle/gynecologist/dead body in the washer opening. My dad and I were laughing so hard when Booth was all uncomfortable with the testicle landing in front of him.

The ep was mainly for laughs. I loved the role reversal of Cam and Michelle. Omg. Why couldn't my parents be like that when I was a teen? :P

Bones continues to bring up Catherine or whatever the marine biologist's name was. Interesting. And "social contract." I totally snorted when I heard that and thought of the House ep called that and how it dealt with House and Wilson's screwed up friendship. But anyway, clearly Bones still isn't as comfortable as she'd like to be with this dating other people thing. a;lskdfja;origha;sdkfj;lj And once again Booth practically said I love you when he said he'd die for her because of their partnership.

OH AND LAST WEEK'S EP. "BONES, YOU ARE THE STANDARD." THAT HAS TO BE THE MOST ROMANTIC STATEMENT EVER. BETTER THAN I LOVE YOU. ;ALKDSJFALS;KDF BOOTH, WHY DO YOU NOT EXIST IN REAL LIFE? AND STOP SLAYING ME WITH YOUR AWESOMENESS AND THE WAY YOU FIND 298374029384792304 WAYS TO TELL BRENNAN HOW MUCH YOU LOVE HER. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? I PRACTICALLY DIED.

Yeah, my head is not in the space for Bones tonight. Clearly. What is wrong with me?

Fringe

White Tulip

Um, this was a very strange ep wherein I didn't care so much about it. The entire time-traveling thing was confusing how that all worked out and whatnot. Also, I was not a big fan of the continual rewind. It was like watching "Vantage Point" but in a bizarre way. I did like how it was shot though.

I knew Walter would spill to a complete stranger about this predicament with Peter and his guilt in changing everything and whatnot, but I was shocked to hear that he was at the point of asking God for forgiveness. Walter believing in God? Seriously? The white tulip at the end was a nice touch though. It wasn't God, but it was nice of the doctor-time-traveler-dude to do.

Then, of course, it bites Walter in the butt the week after.

The Man from the Other Side

PETER FINALLY FIGURES IT OUT. OMG. WHAT.

ALSO, THE LITTLE I REMEMBER FROM PHYSICS ACTUALLY PAID OFF IN THE WHOLE VIBRATION THING WITH THE WAVES AND ALTERNATE WAVES TO CANCEL THE PROCESS OUT BECAUSE OF DECONSTRUCTION AND HOW THE WAVES WOULD BE SO STRONG IT'D DISINTEGRATE A PERSON. OMG. THE ONE THING I PICKED UP ACTUALLY CAME IN HANDY. If that made no sense, do not worry. I hardly understand most of the things on this show.

Anyway, the weird embryo thing? So crazy. All you need is a shovel to stop them from entering our world, btw, because that stops the growth. Then if you stab it with a scalpel you really will stop it. -_- I don't think that was the point, but that's what it seemed like.

It was cool that they come from this weird embryo like thing even though they are half machine. Very very strange indeed. They look like those undead things from The Legend of Zelda before they take over a body.

When Olivia hesitated right before she mentioned Charlie, I might've teared up a little bit. I miss him so so much. And Sam Weiss. I read a theory about Sam = William Bell, but the theory that was brought up in my last post about Sam = God would be so much cooler. :P Sorry this is not about Sam.

Right. Back to Newton and the real plot of the series moving on. Three tuning forks to vibrate at the same frequency right at the time when the two worlds to be in sync. Pretty frickin' clever. Also, I love the dorky guy from Massive Dynamic whose name always escapes me. I want to call him Billy. I dunno if that's from my Power Ranger days where Billy aka the Blue Ranger was the dorky nerdy guy in the group or what. So, Billy it is for this review until I figure out this name. Billy is so enthusiastic about all science and out of this world science that it makes me want to hug him and be his best friend. He is that infectious and I love that he figures out the time sync thing.

Okay, Peter's mom committed suicide. I should've seen that coming, but I didn't. I was surprised. I knew that it wasn't really a car crash, but suicide wasn't something I contemplated, but SHOULD have especially after "Peter." Was it out of guilt for stealing a son that wasn't hers? For making Walter keep the son that wasn't hers? Or was it something else? What if it wasn't really a suicide? That'd be crazy. Like she lived and so the Observers had to take care of it and staged a suicide? Insane, I know. But at this point, anything goes. :P

OH AND BIG HINT. OLVIA KNOWING ABOUT HOW THE WATER IN THE RIVER WOULD ABSORB THE EXCESS ENERGY? UH HUH. RED FLAG. SINCE WHEN DOES OLIVIA KNOW ANYTHING THAT SCIENTIFIC? Well, I guess it's kinda basic, but whatever.

So, I wonder what it is about the Other Side people that won't let them be destroyed by enormous amounts of vibrations?

Also, Heroic!Walter? Was kinda cool the way he charged the truck to the bridge. What was cooler was the bridge arriving. Man. I wanna know how they did those effects.

So, who was on the bridge? Who was the guy Newton was talking to on the bed? That Mr. Secretary? I thought the bridge guy at the guy in tubes were the same, but now I'm pretty sure they're different since bridge guy never made it across. I originally thought bridge guy had made it because Newton was talking about crossing over and we all know the complications of that, but idk. Maybe they are the same guy? Even though the bridge was obliterated, maybe there was another plan or intention behind bringing the bridge over? Very strange.

Part of me thinks it's Walternate coming over to get revenge and after he found out that Peter had be stolen by Walter, he became obsessed in trying to find out how to cross over and whatever. What if Walternate is this mysterious Mr. Secretary? He's here to start a war between worlds. Oh man.

Also, Peter calling Walter 'dad' was adorable. Then he turns his back on Walter. Oh man. Peter, just give him a chance to hear the other side of the story.

Peter's important, for sure. I bet the balance of the worlds will depend on him because he can very well go over to the other side unless he ever hears Walter's side. alskdjfa;dlkfjadls;kf NEED MOAR ANSWERS.

Brown Betty

OMG. THIS EP WAS FULL OF AWESOME. BROYLES SINGING AND PLAYING PIANO. ASTRID SINGING! AND OLIVIA. OH MAN. I THOUGHT THIS MUSICAL EP WOULD BE TERRIBLE BUT IT WORKED EVEN IF THERE WAS RANDOM SINGING IN A JOB INTERVIEW AND OLIVIA SINGING ABOUT PETER WHILE HE'S WAITING FOR HIS JUICES TO KICK IN.

Dude, I love how they used the various weapons or objects from the series in new ways. The window to talk to Bell! So freaking awesome. The laser pen that I don't remember but was cool the way they healed. The Watchers. Just the overall environment was awesome. Olivia as a PI in search of true love? Stolen hearts? Glass hearts? Just the metaphor of the heart was crazy. So many ways to read into that, and I love that it was Walter stealing Peter's heart and the craziness of that. ;alsdkjfa;orgha;sldjfa;d

Ella was adorable. "Esther Ficklesworth" was too. Hee. The look on Astrid's face was pure win. "Uncle Walter" is cute too.

The splitting of the heart for a happy ending. I wonder what that means. It'll be interesting to see how the finale will go down.

The Observer's warning? What was that again? And next week we actually get to see Peter and we're brought back to the real world instead of Walter's crazy high mind. Although, that Brown Betty stuff seems pretty interesting. ;)

Castle

I don't even know where to begin for this show. I just have lots and lots of love and flail for it. Honestly. It's hilarious. It's interesting. And Castle and Beckett are the two cutest people on tv right now. So much wit to go around. Also, the looks that Beckett gives Castle just make me roll with laughter. Her facial expressions alone make me love the show. The constant needling, the pigtail pulling, the flirting -- it's adorable. It's the cuter and safer version of House and Cuddy's dance. :P

The pure innocence on Castle's face when there's a new gadget he wants to check out or a place he wants to go or even one of his crazy stories is amazing. Nathan Fillion is amazing at that kid-like wonder. I get like that sometimes, too. :P Castle is such a big kid. I love that. He also has his series moments like the entire backstory with Kyra, "the one who got away" and the seriousness with Beckett's mom. He's being a little less selfish in the second season and he's trying to be more aware of Beckett's feelings. It's growth. It's good.

I still wish we knew more about Castle though. We see him dig through Beckett's layers and past and whatever, but we hardly see his. We see his family, his close relations with them, we know he doesn't know his father and is okay with that. But we don't really know why he started writing mystery novels, we know that he was inspired by James Bond, but that's it. The ep with Kyra was so amazing and one of the best eps this season just because we got to see the softer, romantic side of Castle that isn't part of the public persona or the wall of wit. It was amazing the depth of regret and longing that still remained. a;slkdfjwoahgspodfijas;ldkfj

Then we got Beckett's mom's killer, but not the guys who ordered the hit. I wonder if that'll be in the finale? Or if they'll save it for the next season to continue this mystery. Also, I cannot wait until the Heat Wave movie comes out so we can see how Beckett would handle all that publicity. It was hilarious enough with Cosmo.

But really, this show is just fun. It's not too dark, it's not too casual. It's just the right amount of everything. Maybe that's what draws me to this show. It's unlike everything else. Bones may be the closest, but even then Castle is still refreshing. There are just enough serious moments to take it seriously like the Kyra ep, the Rathborne ep ("I've gotten used to you pulling my pigtails"), the Nikki Heat murders, the latest one with Esposito and his partner. Brilliant.

Also, jealous!Castle and jealous!Beckett. Oh yeah. Cutest thing ever.

New Castle friends, rec me some fics, yo! Need to dive into this fandom ASAP.
