Music Speaks at Anaheim, CA
Oh. My. Goodness. I was excited about Music Speaks, brought to you by AJ Rafael, for a while because I've always wanted to see AJ Rafael and Gabe Bondoc live and there are no words as to how amazing they are live. No words.
S;LDKFJADS;LKFJASDL;KFASGLKHALIWEAWDIJFALS;DKFJASDL;KFJASL;DKGHOEAS;D THAT WAS SO WORTH $20. ACTUALLY, THEY COULD'VE MADE ME PAY MORE AND IT'D STILL BE WORTH IT. EVERY SECOND. There was lots of music and lots of dancing. They had two hip hop crews, New Like Us and Quest Crew! Omg, the dancing was pretty awesome. Quest was freaking amazing. We got to see Hawk live! The dancing was just insane and hilarious and they freaking brought the house down. We all got up on our feet when they finished and what an excellent last act. a;lskdjfals;kdfjas;ldkfj;l;dkjfa;lsdkfja;
There were so many acts. There was quite a bit of MJ songs too, which was awesome. I nearly died when the opening act, Derek, sang "Man in the MIrror" because that's pretty much my favorite MJ song. Gabe did a little interlude with MJ and then the AJ Rafael Band did a "Thriller" intro to "Showstopper." ;LKASJD;LFKASDJG;ALKSDHG;ALKJWEOIAS;LDKFJ
So JR Aquino's new song, "Closure" is really awesome. I have yet to listen to his CD, but I will soon. He's got an awesome voice and the lyrics are pretty amazing.
Gabe's set was FANTASTIC. Much better than his BTV set. He made it a little slower and yet it was fun. I'm still so amazed at how smooth his voice and transitions are. It was a longer set too, thank goodness. He played "Stronger Than" and "Gentlemen Don't" and "Sweet Pea" and so many other songs. It was just AMAZING. I CANNOT EVEN. AS;LDKFJADS;LFKAJSD;LK AND HE'S SO HOT. ASLDKJFAS;LDKFHAW;ORGIAS;LDFKJAS;LGADL;FJSLA;SLDF I'm acting like those teenyboppers but I don't even know how to express my feelings. It was like being sucked into his orbit for a moment. He's got amazing stage presence in how he can bring the entire auditorium to silence and just make it such an intimate moment. It was so beautiful.
The AJ Rafael Band was so much better than I ever imagined. They too all of AJ's songs and made it AWESOME-ER. AWESOME-ER, THAT'S RIGHT. Showstopper was pretty awesome. STARLIT NIGHTS WAS FREAKING AMAZING. I NEARLY DIED RIGHT THERE. AND THEY MADE THE PIANO SOLO SO COOL AND A;LDSKFJA;RLGAHJ;LDKFJAO;GAHSDLFKJ SERIOUSLY. GUYS. THEN THEY DID "WHEN WE SAY (JUICEBOX)" AND I A;LKSDJGA;RIGHA;LKGAH;GKAJSFL;AKSDJF. TIFF WAS PRETTY MUCH MAKING FUN OF ME BUT WHATEVER. Juicebox was just beyond me. They did a cover of My American Heart's "Tired and Uninspired" which was fabulous. I like it better than the original. They also did "I Want You" and it was cute. ;LKSDJAF;WDJALS;DKJFAS;LDKFJAWORIHAS;LFKJA SO AMAZING LIVE.
So I'm gonna squee and flail about the band members now. Andrew, the lead guitarist, is so talented. Actually, they all are. But he's this asian dude who's got amazing guitar skills. Like His fingers are all over the neck and makes AJ's songs come to life. Noah, the bassist, has got some serious, mad skills. No joke. His bass made all the songs pulsate and breathe and come together. Plus, he's this skinny white guy who has the cute nerdy glasses and I think that's what really did it for me. :P Shiori is this awesome chick drummer who killed every song. She had this awesome little drum solo during one song and I was so ready to just tackle her and scream I LOVE YOU hahahaha. She kicks all kinds of butt, man. ALL KINDS. I was just so stoked to see a girl rockin' the drums! She's cute too, with her short hair and all. :D
AJ's choir, MVCC, was amazing as well. I was not expecting that, but man, they were so good. I forgot how awesome choir was because I haven't seen or heard one since high school. Good times.
AJ's youngest sister and her friend did a dance to Sara Bareilles' "Gravity" which reminded me so much of SYTYCD's version choreographed by Mia Michaels and performed by Kupono and Kayla. Guh. ;aldkfjas;ldkfjas;dlkfjads;l
I want to go to Saturday's performance, the acoustic set, but argh, I didn't get a ticket for it and I have papers and studying to get done. :( Boo. It looks like fun cuz Passion will be there too and I want to see him live since he wasn't in today's set. Oh well. Stupid school.
