finale roundup part 1

May 17, 2009 00:41

This was THE week of finales. Part 2 will be up next week when the rest of my shows finish up, you know like 24 and American Idol.

In order of airing (but not necessarily the order I watched them in):

House

So, House blew me away. Like whoa. There are a lot of great discussions out there on what happened so I won't post anything thinky, but MAN that was intense. I got giddy at House's supposed happiness. His little grin the morning after was the cutest thing ever. Then his grin when he asked Cuddy if they should move in -- I nearly died. It was just way too cute for words. Of course, now I look back on it and it's so heartbreaking because he believed his delusion.

I loved what this delusion showed of House though. He's such a romantic deep down, believing that Cuddy's love could save him and give him back the life he's always wanted. God, it was so brilliant. I don't understand why all the House/Cuddy shippers are going insane about it. If anything, it's only helped the 'ship as far as I'm concerned. We know House's desires and it looks like Cuddy is one of them, or at least what she could represent in his life. This is a lot shorter than what I'd love to write down but it seems like everyone has said what I wanted to say but in way better terms. I just loved this to death. Seriously, it was amazing, even if hallucinations are frowned upon in the world of fiction according to my fiction writing teacher last quarter lol.

Btw, I absolutely loved both patients in this ep. I loved the split brain deal going on because of all the neuro classes I've taken. It's so true what they were doing with all those tests with the words and the drawing. af;lskdgjaw;riga;lfjasdlkfj And, I can't forget to mention Carl Reiner. Omg. I loved him in the Ocean's series, so to see him play this hilarious old squawking man killed me, especially seeing House's reactions and the way that House and Cuddy used him against one another. "Here's my poo." LOL. It was just heartbreaking to hear of his pancreatic cancer. :(

Fringe

OKAY. SO I KNEW JJ ABRAMS WAS CRAZY INSANE BUT REALLY. This alternate reality deal is intense. It's so confusing, just like every other show JJ Abrams has done but it's so intriguing. I love the science stuff going on behind it -- like opening a portal? So cool. The nasty part? Slicing people in half that get caught up in it. And David Robert Jones looked nasty with his melting skin.

The crazy part that I totally didn't see coming? PETER IS DEAD. BUT NOT. I WAS LIKE WTFFFFFFFF IS GOING ON. I'm guessing that sickness that Walter keeps mentioning that Peter had actually did kill Peter, either that or Walter was in the alternate reality where Peter died. I'm thinking the current Peter is from the Alternate Reality where Bell is hiding out. Idk. Fringe is too deep for me to go into. Freaking JJ Abrams and his multi layered crap. The symbols at each commercial break are letters that spell a word for each ep. Then there's the Observer that appears in every ep. And the clue for the next ep in the previous ep. a;lsdh;aria;ldfijao;gjaas;ldkg

But I love Walter. He's my favorite character cuz he's so quirky and intelligent and random and there's still so much more to unravel about him, especially his forgotten memories. I wish they delved a little more into Peter's so called secret life. Olivia's American accent is getting better and better which is good. Asterid is also getting more than a few lines and ep and she's so snarky, I love her. Broyles is just awesome. Period. And so is Francis.

Lie To Me

This is actually the last finale I watched this week. I kept putting it off cuz I didn't think it was that great but it was! Mekhi Phifer is awesome as the FBI agent he's in. I hope he stays as a recurring character if not permanent. He works well with Lightman.

I love the dynamic on this show. Lightman is some crazy obsessed guy with finding the truth, kinda like House, but he totally reads facial expressions. He pulls crazy stunts like shooting a gun at a wedding or staging a terrible fight with his partner, Foster to see the reactions of suspects in a case. It's really quite wonderful lol. It's almost like a British House that's a human lie detector haha. He's got a daughter, Emily and an ex-wife Zoe. He still loves his ex-wife and apparently, in this finale, Emily isn't too fond of it. She thinks it'll start the same old destructive pattern again and that Lightman is actually happier when he's around Foster. Huh. And Foster is divorcing her husband, which took long enough. Torres is hating on Lightman and his curious, fantastic ways -- kinda like House when he pulls his crazy stunts and insights about his team like when he tried breaking 14 up. Yet Lightman isn't nearly as screwed up as House. He cares about his team and he shows it, Torres just can't see it very well. al;skdgawoiga;sldkf This show is awesome. Plus, it's got a guy, Loker, who refuses to tell lies. I think he calls it the 'radical truth' because he's a terrible liar, so he figures, why not just always tell the truth? It's awesome.

Lol, okay so this wasn't really about the finale as much as the entire show, but still. The part about Foster leaving her husband and Emily liking her parents apart happened in the finale. That was cool. Although, I do have to say, I'm getting tired of having a Middle Eastern guy being the bad guy that blows everyone up. It's over done and it's stereotyping. Apart from that, I like what we've been given.

Bones

Um. This was out of whack. It's like they tried to pull a House and failed completely. I wasn't surprised that this was a dream/hallucination in Booth's head, but I was rather disappointed with the entire amnesia thing. I don't think it's permanent, just temporary like getting out of the coma and surviving a nasty injury kind of thing. It was just really lame. And I'm still thrown by the baby storyline? Please tell me Bones really doesn't want a baby. That's just... way too odd.

I did enjoy the fact that Booth and Bones were married and owned a nightclub. I liked how all the interns came back and OMG ZACK! I was SO GLAD TO SEE HIM. I miss him. A lot. His nerdy tendencies and random facts and awesome experiments were awesome. Clark as the awesome rapper guy hahahaha. AND SWEETS SINGING AND PLAYING THE PIANO. Wendell as the bouncer, Vincent as DJ, Colin as the chef with the record for the tower of wings. That was awesome. It was funny to see Jared and Cam as the investigators though. The usual Booth/Brennan cuteness and hotness at being in bed together. Nothing on House and Cuddy though. We didn't even get H/Cu in bed and it was way hotter lol. But no complaints. I just hated the ending. They've had way better finales than this. This ranked at the very bottom of interesting finales. Sorry.

CSI:NY

Okay, this finale was kinda epic and kinda not. It seems like they want to keep leaving every season on a cliffhanger these days. I'd rather it just be wrapped up like it used to in the old days. Oh well.

So, Angell died in the line of duty, which was really sad but we got to see Eddie Cahill as Flack do an awesome job of breaking down and being angry at the same time. Cahill was awesome. Then there was the ridiculous ending where they ALL got shot at in the bar. I heard that someone would be in danger, I just didn't think the ENTIRE cast would be, and it ended there. I didn't think it was nearly as strong as some other eps though. :(

BUT THE PREVIOUS EP WAS AMAZING. It might be the Mac/Stella biased side of me that's coming out but it was awesome. Not only was it written by Melina Kanakaredes, the actress that plays Stella, but she was frickin' awesome. I'm glad they wrapped this up in such an awesome way. I figured the Professor was in on it, but I wasn't sure how. I love when Mac and Stella get into fights and yell at each other and she storms out after handing in her badge. Then the rest of the team follows her clues and Mac joins her in Greece! That just about did it in. Mac and Stella have a truly magnificent friendship and partnership that transcends everything. It's rather beautiful to watch. No matter what's going on between them, they'll always be there for each other and he pretty much tells her that. He's there for it all, and I love the way he pulls her away from the Professor's body and just holds her. Then, the ending was simply awesome with the coffee ground reading and the handing back of the badge and Stella being the woman in Mac's life that he sometimes adores and sometimes drives him crazy. Guh. Yes. THAT should've been the season finale, imo.

Prison Break

SERIES FINALE. OOOO. It was pretty satisfying. I'm so glad they brought like everybody back. I really wanted to see Sucre again. C-Note was surprising and Kellerman? I forgot who he was. I had to look him up. Then again, I've only finished the first half of season one so maybe that's why haha. But I picked up enough. I kept thinking that Kellerman was going to screw them over somehow and they'd all end up dead or caught or something, so I'm glad they were all free. I'm guessing Kellerman used Scylla to boost his political status in order to become congressman. And I'm also guessing the entire series took place in the span of a year, since Michael died in 2005. And I'm also assuming he never got to see the birth of his son either. :( I wasn't surprised that he died, I figured he or Linc would in the end. I'm just glad he was free when he died even though the surgery never worked. Each one got the ending they deserved, like the General getting the chair and T-Bag thrown back in prison. I did like that Danny's wife came back to spit in Kellerman's face. Nice touch there. And Mahone is with the black lady! Whoa. Didn't see that one coming. Overall, it was awesome. A fitting end to such a crazy story.

Wow. That took way longer than I thought. Dang.
