Classes are going pretty well. As we get into the second week the classes seem longer since there's more work less talk now, but it's mostly pretty fun I'd say. I enjoy the classes very much. Painting and Drawing is physically a little more tiring, but I love my teachers for those classes and they give really good advice when they teach. I really felt like I learnt something new in Painting class. Most of my classes don't really tell you what grades you get, but all I know is from feedback, I think I'm doing relatively well in class. I got an A- for my color and black and white still life drawings of vegetables; that was encouraging.
I bought the simplest set of 12 Prismacolor colored pencils to color my vegetables and thought it was hard getting richer shades with so few colors, but my teacher had me read an article about a man who uses even less colored pencils and creates more than dozens of colors and creates rich shades with his work. He mixes colored pencil with graphite pencil in thin layers to create depth. I'm going to try that out and see how I do. It's a great save too, since a larger, nice set of colored pencils can cost from 20 to 40 bucks.
My Literature & Writing teacher looks and sounds like Johnny Depp. I'll never be sick on a Monday this entire year :)
Fridays I don't have class but I think I'm going to take one or two hours of my Friday mornings to go check out the schools' Radio Station. It's actually a really relaxing place and hopefully I'll also get to meet some people there. Teresa works there for the Friday morning shift. The first time I went nobody was doing a show, but supposedly there should or will be.
There was this Taiwanese guy that said Taiwan's milk tastes bad and America's milk beats all. I disagreed and said Taiwan's milk tastes awesome and so far America's 2% milk is okay but I want to try whole milk before I make a true comparison (my roommates all buy little or non-fat milk and it tastes thin). So I buy whole milk and it tastes pretty much just as thin as fat-free milk, but worse. It had a really weird taste to it that was really gross, and it wasn't rich at all. If someone wants to argue that Taiwanese milk is diluted by water, then what I drank yesterday tasted like water with a bit of milk in it. My suitemate said I might have just bought a lower quality brand (store brand) so next time I WILL give a better brand a try just to be fair.
Taiwan milk still rocks. I miss it. I have this uncanny feeling people who say Taiwan milk is bad is really thinking about Chinese milk ):
