Oh, Eleven. My love for you grows exponentially over every episode I see of you.
Him popping out of the birthday cake made me giggle like a school girl, especially since it was quite obvious from his statement that he'd popped out of several trying to get to Rory. And his concern over the diabetic bikini clad stripper left outside. And his blurting out that Amy kissed him. Poor Rory. He's up against a force to be reckoned with in the Doctor and poor Eleven, who didn't quite mean to put it THAT way. Or does he. I've come to think a small part of the Doctor LIKES messing with humans just a little.
Eleven: "Rory! That's a relief. If I'd burst out of the wrong cake...again...That reminds me, there's a girl standing outside in a bikini. Could someone let her in? Give her a jumper? Lucy. Lovely girl. Diabetic."
Eleven: "Rory, we need to talk about your fiancee. She tried to kiss me. Tell you what though, you're a lucky man. She's a great kisser... Funny how you can say something in your head and it *sounds* fine..."
Eleven: "Think of this as a wedding present, because frankly it's either this or tokens."
After screwing up more than one relationship, the Doctor makes an attempt to keep Rory and Amy together. Unfortunately, Rory bucks up to the Doctor and is a bit smarter than he looks, prompting Eleven's hackles to go up a little (not something you want, frankly). But he takes them to Venice anyway, a city HE obviously loves, which is cute to watch as he's like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to beauty and human perseverence. I love how delighted he and Amy were over the vampires, jumping around like five year olds.
Eleven: "No. Nonononononono. Can't keep happening like this. This is how they got..."
Well, that's how they get everyone with the Doctor, really, but he STILL gives that admiring smile to Amy when she volunteers, even though he KNOWS it's too dangerous. The Doctor admires his companions, which leaves them vulnerable because to be admired by the Doctor means that you're risking your life as much as he does.
Eleven: "We go together. Say you're my daughter."
Amy: "Daughter? You look about nine."
Eleven: "Brother then."
Amy: "Too weird. Fiance."
I can't help shipping Eleven/Amy even though I don't think this one is going to be playing as epic as Ten/Rose was, but I do love the eyebrow quirk he gives when she says that. For trying to get her to be happy with Rory, he's not trying all that hard.
Isabella's Father: "Actually, I thought YOU were her fiance."
Eleven: "Yeah, that's not helping."
Rory: "Yours is bigger than mine."
Eleven: "Let's not go there."
And I found Eleven amazingly attractive when he was sitting on that golden throne. He's got really pretty green eyes. Meanwhile, Timelords, being intergalactic badasses, have a lot of swagger, something Matt Smith has plenty of in this scene.
Eleven: "It would never work. I'm a Timelord. You're a big fish. Think of the children."
Even giant fish want in the Doctor's pants. But then he was a stone cold badass this entire scene.
Eleven: "I will tear down the house of Calivari stone by stone... You know why? Because you didn't know Isabella's name. You didn't know Isabella's name."
That's the core of the Doctor, really. He cares about the individual as much as the whole, which hurts him over and over. You can tell he doesn't want to yell at Amy at the end, but he does it for Rory's sake since Rory is right about people getting hurt trying to live up to the Doctor. Yet with all that compassion he has, that is the very thing that causes his overwhelming guilt about letting races (including his own) die. He's the last of his kind left and he tries so hard to make things right. He's like the Dean Winchester of Timelords. Rosanna didn't need to tell him to dream of the races he's watched die. You know he already does.

This is a lovely, beautiful show full of magic, adventure and some really good acting. I adore it so completely. I love the characters. I love the actors. The only reason it's not my favorite show is that there was a little bit of a sophomore slump to this one that the third season hasn't fixed yet, while Primeval has gotten consistantly better to me.
