Spartacus: Blood and Sand
Well, it's accurately named. There is blood and there is sand, though they'd probably have been more honest if they'd thrown "graphic sex" into the title too. It's an impressive show to look at though and while the characters are dropping like flies, some of them were very endearing in their own way (nnnnnnnnnooooooooooooo! not Varo!). And while people complained about Spartacus's cranky arrogance, I personally liked him for it. It's a man who lost everything slowly getting the clue that there's a bigger picture. They may have taken everything from him, but he's going down swinging.
