i read this story once in a reader's digest about a woman who was old and sick and dying. she decided to have assisted suicide. so the story was set the night of her suicide. her family was there to say goodbye. her grandchildren who were too young to understand. i can't even explain how sad that was. then she went upstairs, took a pill, went to sleep to never wake up. it was horrible. too sad. but she was dying and she said at least she got to say goodbye and know it was over rather than living in uncertainty and slipping into more pain and confusion. i don't know what to think of such a thing.
