After a brief heiatus, we return.
Just to recap, you had located the bandit hideout, a small palace in the desert. as you snuck up on the lion-headed creatures in the courtyard, a hydra-like creature with worms instead of heads. The fading light interferes with accuracy (see below), and everyone is flat footed.
The fading light makes vision difficult for normal creatures. Those without low light vision or dark vision suffer a 20% miss chance from concealment in melee and a 50% miss chance on ranged attacks. Low light vision reduces these to 0% in melee, 20% ranged. Dark vision negates the miss chance on targets within dark vision range.
The Initiative Order for this battle is as follows:
Oulah 19
Verealing 17
Osilgard 11
Alythana 10
Groak 9
Ana 7
Lion-Men 6
Zaneak 2
Worm Mass 2
Oulah moves silently and stealthily across the roof, and casts his entanglement spell around the gate. The plants there stir as though a wind is blowing.
Verealing steps backwards and fires a volley of arrows at the worm creature. Two arrows strike home, eliciting a high pitched wailing cry.
Osilgard spins his horse and charges the aberation (worm hydra) with a fierce cry. As he approaches one of the tentacles lashes out to strike him, but deflects off of the paladin's heavy armor. His strike cuts a deep gash along the side of the creature.
Alythana, circling overhead, sends down a bolt of lightning to strike the worm mass. The bolt strikes the center of the mass solidly.
Groak discards his tactical advantage and charges into the flailing tentacles of the aberation. One of the tentacles strikes him as he moves into range. (8 damage) His counter-attack cuts deeply into the body of the beast.
Ana chants a graceful string of consonants and calls forth a radiant light via the daylight spell, dispelling the growing shadows.
The Lion-men scatter away from the fire, spreading out across the back section of the courtyard.
Zaneak frowns at the Lion headed men, but turns away as they cower in the courtyard. He sends a grey-green beam from his hand to strike the coiling worm mass. The worm seems to sag as the bean hits it.
The worm mass lashes out with its many tentacles. four of the long tentacles latch onto Groak, biting with their many tiny teeth (7,8,5,4 damage: total 24) Two more tentacles lash into Osilgard and a third snakes towards his mount, but Osilgard skillfully protects his mount. (3,4 damage: total 7)
Initiatives for the next round are the same as this round. Welcome back, everyone.
