As promised, Let our adventure begin with the festival of fools.
You all have come to Deeping Fast for your own reasons, but have come together in defense of the settlement. You have been hired to guard the caravan carrying a load of gold, gems, and copper to the capital city. The Queen, much beloved by the people, has decreed that no more shipments of food shall be sent to Deeping Fast until the tribute caravan arrives. The people of Deeping Fast have tightened their belts and are rationing their food as best they can, but the provisions there will run out in twenty two days. The trip across the desert will take nine days, leaving little time to dilly-dally.
We will begin on the fourth day into the desert. The caravan, carrying food and water for the journey as well as the Queen's tribute, is strung out over a couple of hundred meters. There are seventeen caravaneers along with your two dozen Camels. One of them, a sharp-eyed guardsman called Adam, has just spotted a dark cloud on the horizon. The cloud is spreading with each passing moment, a sure sign of an approaching sandstorm. This is unusual, as it is not the season for storms and the storm is moving the wrong direction: away from the salt wastes.
The storm will arrive in one minute (10 rounds). The other caravaneers are scrambling to get the camels down and cover themselves. Please indicate what you will do up until the storm hits. At a bare minimum, laying down and covering yourself will provide some protection and takes only a few seconds (1 round) to accomplish. Please include with your post a brief character description, specifically your appearance and any character traits that would be obvious in four days of close association.
Once I have everyone's posts, I will advance the action. If anyone has any questions, please email them to me. Thanks much, and have a good evening.
