ok weird question.
ok so, BACKSTORY TIME.
so, here is the story of how i got into fanfiction, as it is somewhat relevant to my question and i guess people might be curious? maybe sorta?
soooooooo, i had the obligatory gay best friend in high school (and he is still my best gay bf) and i remember the FIRST day i ever met him was when i was in 10th grade and he was in 9th grade and we were at a latin competition and we had never met before but we were put on the same team because, well, because we were both really good at latin (well, actually he was good at the myths and crap as he hadn't had as much grammar because he was in 9th-OMG WHATEVER TANGENT. SORRY) and we had just kicked some booty the first two rounds and it was lunch time before finals and we were eating together as a team and getting to know one another and then all of the sudden he talking about "his stories" and it turned out they were stories on Nifty which is an archive for original gay fiction. and so he totally piqued my curiosity and then i started reading a bunch of stories on there. towards the end of the year i found a bunch that i liked and was following, one of them being The Way You Say My Name by Sarah Bell. I started following her yahoo group and one day she posted about HP fanfic and she linked to a story i remember reading for five seconds and being like OMG THIS IS SO DUMB (it involved lots of songs and it actually had a really hot girl that made harry think he was bisexual and her name was like Mariana Lucia Fairy Princess and yeah I didn't know at the time but it was like super Mary Sue-ical, like pretty much the prototype for that kind of thing) and then also Gold Tinted Spectacles by beren_Writes and yeah i read that instead of studying for ap chem in 10th grade and from then i was hooked and i left the world of original gay fiction behind for good.
except for ONE story. i remember reading this story in 9th grade for the first time (it was still updating then) when my crazy religious cousins from oklahoma were here and i remember feeling SO badass, cuz i was all like open minded and stuff and they totally weren't. haha. which leads to my question...
have any of you ever read Carrots and Celery because OMG HOLY SHIT.
HOLY SHIT.
so i was making this post just to ask if people had read it because its awesome and i want to discuss it BUT SHE HAS BEEN UPDATING IT AGAIN?!?! (IT WAS COMPLETE BUT THERE WERE PROMISED SEQUELS THAT DIDN'T COME AND OMG WHAT??!?1?!)
I am so happy i decided to post about this?!?!!? i literally discovered she was updating in the middle of writing this post when i went to look up the url so i could link to the story.
so it's REALLY long, but it's fabulous and i highly recommend it, especially so i can discuss it with someone, because i have never been able to and ive always really wanted to, but nifty doesn't have the kind of community lj/fanfic does. so yeah READ IT.
