The Prop 8 Bullshit Continues...

May 27, 2009 00:08

The California Supreme Court ruled 6-1 against the case to overturn Prop 8, a discriminatory law that denies freedom and equality to a specific group.

...despite Iowa, Vermont, and Maine passing legislation that promotes equality in marriage. Despite the Iowa Supreme Court declaring that a ban on same-sex marriages is unconstitutional. Despite the growing call for freedom and equality, California's government continues violating privacy by trying to control personal choices. It infringes on the rights of its citizens and imposes one group's moral code on others. The only positive is that the California Supreme Court is allowing previous same-sex marriages to stand, which is hypocritical itself.

I'm not too worried, though. California will suffer for this, thanks to cause and effect. Its attack on freedom and equality will get it slammed by lawsuits and cause same-sex couples leave their workforce to settle, get married, and work in these other states. Even sympathetic heterosexuals like myself might be so repulsed by this unjust, intolerant ruling that they leave the state.

Quit trying to force the wheel of civil rights backwards, damn it. Or else stop calling America "land of the free."
