Ah, the joys of the old friendster site! I rediscovered a summertime room mate from college-- T., as I called him in I think my first LJ entry. He might come out and visit (he's an LB native himself), which would be really cool because I know him, but it's been so long it's like I get to learn who he is all over again. He was quite the sweet cool guy and introduced me to Elliot Smith. There's nothing cooler than that.
I got a massage from a fully blind man today. No, I know what you're all thinking: I didn't get off on it or anything, but it was very cool. Especially because he was so open and honest about it and talked about all the things he still does: self-defense, build his own deck, work on cars, and a bunch of other stuff. I guess the only thing he doesn't do is drive. He was joking around about how he can date ugly women, and I said, "Wow, that must open up the dating pool," and then he said something to the effect of no. Which I couldn't believe because I was thinking what woman wouldn't mind being married to a personal massage therapist who can't up and drive off when he's mad at you?
After all those LJ rants I was having about walking down the street, being noticed and catcalled like a piece of meat, and then feeling weird about it, I guess I would feel strange if I WASN'T appreciated at all for my physical beauty either. Like, some dude just thinks I'm nice and decides that's good enough to marry. I'll make exceptions for blind masseuses though.
Anyway, my visit at M.s house was fun, and her pups are great. It was really weird seeing my old room empty, but the house was otherwise so full of life that nothing was really missing. NOTE to self: Jack Russels are a handful.
