Busy day

I've begun to realize that the work load at my new job runs hot and cold. While there's been a relatively low volume most days lately, today was like bailing the ocean with a bucket. I think part of it is that because of my light work load, my supervisor started piling extra work on me, to the point that the days which previously had a decent workload now are quite hectic. Today was hectic. But it was productive, so I'm pretty happy about it. One of the interesting things about this job is the sheer volume of money we shuffle around. Back when I was in the Navy, I had a pretty big budget, but over the course of the average quarter, I almost never got to spend as much money as I authorized invoices for last Thursday and Friday. And my business cards finally came in today!
I also talked to the volunteer coordinator at Suffern Free Library, and she's figuring out where they can best use me. With any luck, I'll be able to start sometime in the next two or three weeks.
Tonight was laundry night, again. Yet another opportunity to feel productive without really accomplishing anything lasting.
