Yesterday was Memorial Day, I personally spent some time focusing my thoughts and energy for those who have died in combat, both in past wars and conflicts and those who have died more recently in the Middle East.
While I have been lucky and not known anyone personally that fits these criteria, I thank those who have for giving their lives so that we can live in a country where we feel secure in voicing our opinions, knowing that we will most likely not be killed by stepping into the street and on to a mine or bomb, that we are free to study whatever we like without having to hide or sneak to school, that we can say anything we like, though others may not like it, we probably won't be stoned for voicing our thoughts.
I send a thank you to the soldiers that put themselves in danger or who have died due to doing so, for the life I get to live.
I know that there are a lot of men and women protecting our rights and lives right now and that there are some (possibly many) that will not come home alive. I hope that they are never forgotten, and know that there are those of us who will remember their sacrifice, if not their face.
thanks,
memorial day
