Prompt:: catyuy's challenge: to write a fic where you get other character's reactions/thoughts on the Gabriel(Sylar)/Elle relationship.

Mohinder staggered to an unoccupied bench in an empty hallway. He collapsed onto the seat, head dropping into his hands. He couldn't get his head around what he was doing - knowingly injecting innocent people with a formula that was torturing them, transforming them into something less than human. He unconsciously stroked the scabby growths on his neck, a subconscious reminder of why he had to do what he had to do.

A door down the hall creaked open. Mohinder looked up to see a blonde look both ways before exiting. He caught her eyes long enough to recognize her - and she recognized him, too, Mohinder was sure of it, although she seemed to act like she didn't. She snuck out from behind the door and shut it quietly behind her before attempting to sneak off in the opposite direction down the hall.

"Elle," Mohinder said, loud enough to catch her attention. There was no ignoring him now.

She slowly turned around and smiled widely, as though trying to mask her blushing by distracting Mohinder with her pearly whites. "Hey there, Fight Club," she sneered. She was not pleased to see him. "What are you doing here?"

"I could ask the same of you," he replied, covering his scaly neck with his hand as she approached.

"I asked first," she said slyly as she sidled up to him, leaning against the wall and fidgeting nervously.

Mohinder hadn't seen Elle since she'd saved him and Maya and Molly from Sylar. A lot had happened since then. How could he possibly explain that he'd injected himself with an unstable formula, started transforming into a monster, and launched an interior decorating career with his lab full of human cocoons?

But Elle had saved his life, so he felt he at least owed her an answer to a simple question. "The Company was just not working out. Pinehearst has given me a new..."

"Well, that's all well and good. Nice catching up. I'll see you later."

"Wait, Elle! Don't go!" Mohinder had felt so uneasy at Pinehearst since Maya had left. At least Elle was a familiar face, someone he felt he could trust. "I don't think I ever properly thanked you for saving us from Sylar. It was... very heroic of you."

"Uh, thanks."

"Elle, you seem..." Mohinder took a moment to really take in her appearance. Her clothing was disheveled. She wasn't even wearing shoes. Her hair hung limply, like it hadn't been washed properly in weeks. She had rings underneath her eyes, indicating exhaustion. Her tone was exasperated. "Are you all right? What's happened to you?"

"Well, where should I start?" Elle rolled her eyes, crossed her arms. "Sylar killed my father, Angela Petrelli fired me from the Company, my powers were backfiring on me, I came here and they chained me like an animal... but I'm all right now," she added.

Mohinder set his hand on her shoulder, and without thinking pulled her into an embrace that she seemed hesitant to reciprocate.

The door down the hall opened again, and another person stuck his head out, looking both ways. He leaned just far enough into the corridor to reveal his shirtless chest. His eyes met with Mohinder's for just a moment.

Sylar.

Mohinder had a moment of realization: Elle was so much more screwed than he thought - and in more ways than one.
